View Full Version : Reducing boost after exhaust mods.
All Boost

Hey, I know this topic came up recently, but there wasn't a solid answer for the guy that brought it up.
So, Putting on a Downpipe increases stock boost (~2psi) from the average 6.5psi. So if your in this situation, and you would want your dual stage boost controller to have stock 6.5 and high of 9psi. What would you have to do?
If some people have downpipes and would like to note their boost increases after their install.
Thanks

When I changed my exhaust I noticed a slight increase maybe 1/2 psi and my hard pipes added a little

The wastegate will open at whatever it was set at before your DP install. You will not make more boost. The wastegate has not been changed. It might spool faster.
A dual stage boost controller can not lower the boost below what the wastegate normally opens at.
Myself, my wastegate opens at 4 Psi. My first stage of Boost Controller is set at 2 Psi. 4+2= Six Psi is my lower setting.
Second Stage is set at 8 Psi. 4+8= Twelve Psi.

This sounds alright. Some people like Essential speed claim a huge raise in stock boost.
I'm definately going to get a downpipe with a high flow cat. Prolly custom 2.5".
Thanks peeps

The boost might spike more with a free flowing exhaust that's about it.
