Hiya!

I bought myself a complete BP engine for my company.. with an ECU..

I have just started to get into the process of checking the spec of the units inside..

I have spoke a little with corksport for ECU reprogrammation, as they do it with V6 2.5L engine ECU to put in the KL-ZE setup.

I found 4 .bin files, and manage to get all the information to put those information into chips of the ECU..

Now, for the BP, I thought.. should be easy too.. But, there is troubles :(

Now, there is 2 chips that seems to never been publish to publis eyes.. I wonder if someone from this forum could help me out..

I have figure, that the longuest chip, brown one, is the processor, and the small black box, is the memory chip, as an HardDrive. But those 2 chips aren't 'normal'.

I check with someone I know (Using chips to build up balance for trucks). My .bin I found were 32k in size, that's for a 40 pins chip.. So, the longuest chip would be it.. we double check the lenght, just to make sure.. and there was 42PINS! Two more than normal! That chip isn't 'standard' to the market of chips.

The black box also it not standard. Got 1 row of 11 PINS. (That is off head, But I know it was not standard).

We spoke with someone who have been 20 years in the business, he never saw that either..

Now, anyone can help me out with some information?

I never saw a .bin of a BP engine, is there some outthere?
Are those chip Read/Write protect?
What is the official name of NEC and ND chip manifacturers?

Thanks for any help..

The long flat chip is the processor (microcontroller). I've seen odd numbered chips in other applications before, it's not too uncommon. The 11 pin IC is a conglomeration of other parts, like a sub assembly. All system memory is within the microcontroller . "Programming" would more than likely be a custom (and costly) job. I haven't heard of anyone using a custom program in an OEM box (that doesn't mean it hasn't been done). You may want to look into a 3rd party stand alone sytem. It may be easier to integrate and more cost effective. You may also want to ask around on the forums at www.miata.net and and www.clubprotege.com. There are more BP folks there than on this board.

Thanks for the information..

So that's the long chip I'm after.

I am part of a club in Québec, and I must say, some of our peoples are getting riped from peeps saying they are reprogramming the SOHC ECU of an Mx-3 to GT-X spec.. Which I don't beleive..

A piggy back, is an alternative, but not a solution in this subject. Seems like they just twick the ECU to go into open loop all the time.. Someone from our group manage to get a ECU from Europe for a GT-X, and his gas millage went up by 200kms.. he did 250kms on a full tank..
