in 2nd gen though, i dont know..legally to pass emissions you can't have a motor in you car thats older than it by x amount of years..maybe that fluxuates from state to state..but it wouldn't fly here in ct..a 92 motor in a 2002..basically a motor with no OBD system, and runs on a distributor..you'd never pass emissions..but..2nd gens..who knows..they are a mystery to me.

if it passes the sniffer its fine, almost anything could pass here

email corksport about your question. I guess it just takes a lot of custom fab work and a lot of money ;). It is possible though, iirc corksport has the car running well.

you're saying that corksport has a 2nd gen with a 1st gen motor/BP in it?

Im almost postive. I know they where at least working on one. If you look on their site they will tell you its possible but its very labor/money intensive. Seriously I would try talking to them about it if you have the time.

Edit: I took this from Corksports webpage on JSPEC engines...

1.8L T4cyl (BPturbo) w/approx 180 HP

90-94 Protege
90-95 Escort GT
86-94 323 ##
95-98 Protege ##
92+ Mx3 ##

## installation can be difficult and expensive. (wiring/ECU, mounts, tranny)

Yeah guys
Patrick from Portland has the bpt in his second gen (its the car that Corksport did)...its a straight foward swap but alot of work. He said that if he were to do it again, he'd just turbo the factory 1.8...
Heres his cardomain page:

Not impossible, what would be much easier is a 95 with a 1.8L already in it.

as seems to be the consensus here, of course you can. some of us are lucky enough to have the 1.8 already. steven pelham in australia has done his as well as patrick.

i have my engine and a new turbo ready to go but can't seem to save for the ecu and the miscellaneous bits.

i think a major problem that people have is that very few people are capable of doing some of the work themselves. this is why the cost is so forboding.

if you're able to do a little fab work yourself or have contacts who can do it for next to nothing, then you'll see half your problems go away. it is only a hassle and "too hard" when you're paying someone else to screw around.

i could care less if its a pain in the ass to run a new loom, i love my project so it just comes with the territory - you know?

look at how few of these are around.....how could you not want to do it?

Nothing is even impossible
You WILL need to make custom motor mounts, also im not sure because I dunn the size, but you might have to move the firewall back, a tiresome task but can be done, also again since im unsure on the size, you might even have to move the radiator up to not over heat
