a) no.
b) evos come with them stock. would a 30k "tuner car" come with standard equipment that would cause major engine problems? naw.
c) there are covers available.
d) it actually helps with heat dissapation.

So the water and stuff getting in would cause absolutly no problem??? Maybe the actual evos have some extra protection for the electrical??? So, if we get a Evo style hood, it won't cause any damage to have it open to the elements???

de nada. someone else may chime in but the general answer is no. im sure that if you're in a hurricane and you park next to the ocean or whatever then you may have damage but it's just like the injen "sucking up water" thing.. if you've managed to get your car that deep into trouble, the last thing you need to worry about is your car.

Doesn't the evo hood have a little bump along the bottom that sucks in the water?

do you guys really think that water and road-crap don't get on your engine from below? geez, no the vent will not hurt your engine, unless you drive in a perpetual monsoon

I've seen the EVO VIII its has somekinda guard under the vents. I think this is how it works: The vents hard shaped so that water or rain will run down or drip one way (towards the front). Plus I thought they have a well covered heat sheild? Im not 100% sure but this is what I think it does.
I am also concerned too cuz I live in Florida and we have storms every afternoon durring summer. It would be cool if someone knows and confirms this.

So it seems general concensus is no, it's no problem. But I'd think you kinda want to be smart about it. Rain pouring onto a hot exhaust manifold might not be the best idea - you'll get steam, and the rapid cooling and reheating may not be the best for the car. When I get my vented hood, the vents will be strategically over the spots where water can pretty much fall straight through to the ground, at stop and at speed. Oh, and I'd think you might not want a vent over top of the fuse box...

the vent is no where near the fuse box.

I just have an engine cover so I am fine. I also was on a boat fishing with a buddy last night. His pump burnt up so we were taking on water. The engine was almost smerged and nothing happen to it.
No pics. But as long as your plugs do not get water in the holes you will be fine. Since our cars do not have disburters(spell check)
