Do I need to replace the gaskets? I'm at 7000 miles, and what resistance resistor should I use to fake the ecu into thinking I have cats?

I didn''t replace my gaskets when the DP went on at about the same mileage as you. Had my exhaust checked for leaks and had none at about 12k miles. As far as the MIL eliminator I forgot which one I used, but make sure you solder the connections and wrap it well with tape.

Good luck.

are there any adverse affects for driving w/the light on? I want to install the dp this weekend and I doubt I could order the part in time.

I've been driving with the CEL on for over 2 months now and no problem. When I first installed the downpipe it didn't come on for like a whole month. Then after that I'd just disconnect battery and it'd go away for a while but I went ahead and orded the mil eliminator from apexr1.com but just haven't had the chance to hook it up.

Will regular connectors and electrical tape work? I didn't have access to soldering tools. Should I redo it, or don't even worry about it?

You should always solder something like that. It's much better in the long run. Plus when the CEL is on, the computer is in a safe mode where it reduces power and dumps more fuel.

i used heavy duty crimp connectors on all 4 cars that i did about 3 months ago.
no problem yet.

just make sure that u re-rout the O2 censor wire so that it doesnt touch the turbo or the downpipe. it will melt that protective plastic casing and might damage the wires.

You're in CA, your opinion doesn't count... :p

Just teasing, but in a place like Michigan that gets actual winter weather and uses rock salt: YES, you NEED to solder, and I'd use som heat shrink shit. There is no way crimp connections will last on a wire anywhere near the outside of a car that will see salt and winter grime.

hehe, well that's why god created electrical tape :D
but yeah, soldering will be the best way to go.
good luck.

I've heard of that, but does it go into the "safe" mode for all CEL codes? I would think that some problems that would cause a CEL would not cause it to dump more fuel.

Thanks guys. I store the car in the winter, but I'm going to redo it just to be safe. I'll use heatshrink wrap this time. For now tape will have to do.

I did not think our cars could possibly dump anymore fuel

Well, its throwing an emissions code, which, to the PCM could be a multitude of issues. It will go into safe mode, and run super duper uber rich. :D You will lose power, and more and more, as time goes on.
