Does anyone else have a Turbo XS bov. If you do, how many
washers did you use to keep it idling ok and still make it blow off?
I still havent figured it out yet. The more washers I use the better
it idles.(Im using 8)But at low rpms it sounds like its surging . The
less I use the worse the idle is but the bov kicks in early.
Any suggestions.

Take a washer out and see how it runs, repeat until the car idles bad, then add one back in.
I done told yuo that on the phone greg. :D

I have stock pipes, with the BOV recirculating. It idles perfect, same as the stock BOV.

^^so you have a bypass valve...in which washers arent needed.

This one is vented atmoshpherically, with alum pipes. I think its an Turbo XS type H

I originally had it set up in place of the stock bypass valve, then I got hard pipes so now its vented. As of right now there are 7 washers in there. It idles perfect, but it sounds like its surging if I let off the throtle between 2k and 4k. But at 6k its perfect. Now I tried taking some washers out but it will barely idle. Im just confused.
If less then 6 washers are in there then every time I let off the gas it drops so hard it stops.

its not surging greg, youre just not building a whole lot of boost so it just barely has enough to open, so it doesnt "whoosh" out
My car does the same thing, it just kinda flutters.
Just leave it at 7, so it idles and doesnt stall, and im sure its still plenty loud.

Yeah thats what its doing. (fluttering). COOL

if the air is not exiting freely then you are keeping it inside which means it will return to the turbine, making it surge....just .02.

In a perfect scenario, no it should not flutter. If there is anyway that you can add your stock valve to assist your turbo xs, then I highly reccomend that. I truely believe that Discreet and I are running the best blow-off system on the msp. I tried at least 4 different setups, and Discreet ran 2 or 3 that I would have tried if he had not. Together, along with the input/ideas from others, we came up with the best way to vent without any compressor surge/flutter, while also preventing the stall that is normally associated with venting a maf equiped car to the atmosphere.
Again, if you can add your stock recirculating valve to your hardpipes, then I think you would eliminate the flutter.

What's going on 505zoom. Happy New Year to everyone. Have you tried hooking up the MAF to the throttle body pipe? I believe that I am the only one who never had the problem with the turkey or stalling issue with aftermarket bov. I wish I had a sound clip for you to hear. Anyways I'm running a Greddy type s bov not recirc, no turkey, no stalling, and it sounds awesome. I know that you did lots of testing to work it out so props to you. Also Discreet. Anyways you guys have a Happy New Year!

I just talked to the guy that installed my FMIC and BOV and tommorrow were going to take some of the washers out and he said hes going to try to use a vac. reduser to see if that helps. Ill keep you posted.
