View Full Version : Wowie, wow, wow, Mazda has added $1,000 factory to dealer incentive to MSP + rebates

rocketspeed

Invoice= $19,447

$2,500 rebate to all

$1,000 factory to dealer cash=

$15,947

Take off another $500 for college if you qualify

Now's the time to snatch up the last of them if you're in the market. I thought I was getting a good deal 2 months ago at $17.5k. Oh well, the car still has me smiling. :D

Will hurt all of our resale values, though. :(

I've been trying to tell people this for a while!! MSP is a great value right now!! No car on the market can do what this can for this little money! Unless of course you want to buy a piece-honda and sink $10K into it.....my moto: You can polish a turd, but its still a turd.

Buy up a MSP if you see one for sale!!

Yep last week on Christmas Eve there was local dealer clearing them out for 4500$ + another 1500.00$ off. They had them down to about 15,500$ and the same deal applied to the PR5, shit, it was under 12 grand for a PR5 that is FUCKING SICK!
They sold them all that day. I had a friend try to get one from both of the stores all gone by afternoon. It was crazy. I wanted a PR5 at that price for my daughter. Missed out though:(

Don't fuck around get one will the gettins good. Don't let the rebates pass you by if you really want one get for a steal. NOW!
I for one love my car and have only the clunk as a real problem. Overall I do not reget buying one bit and I love my Wife's PR5 almost as much.
Do you realize at these prices I could have bought a new PR5 and a new MSP for 26,600$ or so! WTF that's nuts.
Man I mean those bastards were just saying,"Fuck it here's what we want take it or someone else will." I was so screaming at my buds,"Buy the car you cheap fucking tard!" But nooooo! hey had to drag his procrastinating ass around all damn day until by the time he called they were all sold out! FUCKTARD!!!

Thats bullshit, when I got my car in Jan. The MSP's were going for like 23k. I did my best just to get down to the 20,500 mark. Im just gettin pissed. You guys owe like 13, 14, maybe even 15k when here I am a year later and I still owe 18k. I should have waited a while. Thats what I get for being impatient and having to have the 1st MSP in Kentucky.

This is kind of depressing. I got mine for 18k about 2 months ago & thought that was a pretty good deal. :(

Ever hear the expression, "Good things come to those who wait?"

Need any vaseline? Why did you pay above stickerprice for ANYTHING in the first place? That's like going up to a coke machine....seeing it costs $.50 and putting in $.68. I understand wanting something as soon as it comes out, but crap man....I bet you won't pay sticker ever again!

Leigh
12-30-2003, 12:45 AM
Guess that shows us huh?

I thought I was getting it year end. I bought the end of Nov after driving around for a couple of weeks &/or calling most of the area dealerships.

18 was still way under MSRP & I was getting about the same offer everywhere. When one dealer offered me 700 more for my trade than anyone else would I thought that was enough to be a pretty good deal. I expected they'd drop another 500 or so in Dec.... but not this much.

Should have waited longer I guess.

Yes, stop thinking - go buy and enjoy having a great car for next to nothing.

Buy them all up & then hoard them preciously so all us poor idiots can get our resale back :D

Or at least so we can be happy someone's enjoying the deal.

I think in the meantime I'm going to go out for a drive to make myself feel better ;)

Turbo Matty P

dealer cash is a factory incentive to the dealer for selling the unit. Even though this is only supposed to go to the dealer they will often give up some or all of the bonus cash to make a sale and move the unit.

One thing to remember is that dealerships also have to take out loans on every unit on their lot. At the end of the month/year they owe for those units not sold. PLUS, factory will pay out bonuses based on number of units moved. So moving 100 units at 1% profit may be better than moving 30 units at 20% profit.

hmmm the dealership I bought from offers a 30 day price match... I paid $15500 out the door... wonder if they'll give me $1000 back and I'll end up with a brand new msp for $14500 hahahaha

Turbo Matty P
12-30-2003, 01:17 AM
I highly doubt it...for a price match to work you have to have the other dealerships offer in writing signed by their sales manager.

Local mitsu dealer here had a deal going if you test drive a mitsu and still buy a competitors vehicle they'll give you $100. A friend of mine went and test drove the lancer then ended up bying an RX8 the same day. Went back with his car and they gave him a check for $100.....I shoulda thought about that when I traded the MSP for the P5!! Just a way to get another $100 and hurt mitsu's sorry ass.

I'm not familiar with mazda's S plan....I got my contour svt on ford's A-plan, but it was a BITCH! As for the $1000 dealer cash incentive.....they don't have to do anything they don't want. If they don't want to come down any with that $1K dealer cash then they wont.....I would just tell them that you know about it and if they threw it in you'd have a done deal. Ask them whats more important: Moving another unit and making a new loyal customer or $1000. Ask them how much they spend on advertising for each car they end up selling....I know for a fact they will know that number. If it's more than $1K then you've just bought a car!

You need to take ALL of that off the FACTORY INVOICE of $18,466, so you get $13,641 which includes your S Plan (savings plan or whatever that means).

There is no reason they should not sell that car at close to INVOICE price maybe $250 over invoice for a little profit but that's all.

Print out the factory invoice from Edmunds.com or Carpoint.com, subtract all the rebates and incentives, add whatever the dealer wants over invoice to sell the car, and that will = your final price.

Then start subtracting any trade-in allowance or money down LAST.

You should litterally be getting that car on the CHEAP from the dealership!

Go to it...it's the best car out there right now for that money which is why I bought one plus it has more leg room than a Honda Accord in the backseat for future daddies like myself, is cheaper, handles 100x better, and looks 100x better!!!

A STEAL!!!

In 2 days it's going to be 2004 and the dealers are really going to get stuck so if you can wait a week they're going to come down more. On the resale side, I'm always looking at tons of used car lots when I drive around and I hardly ever see any P5s. To me that means they're holding their value and are going to for a while. There's always plenty of 2002 Cavilers and Focuses on the lots.

I think you missed my post a few days ago about mazdasouth.com having 2 brand new Orange MSP's for these low prices. From what I understand, they are a volume dealer and had a LOT of MSP's under the auspices that they could sell them by the truckload....this was not the case. Now they are clearing them out at 0 profit. It's a great deal......yes, even if you want the orange or black!

This is one terrific deal. Ira Mazda in Danvers, MA had 4 on their lot last Friday when my car was in for service, I think one in each color. Someone was looking at the blue one, they were asking me all kinds of questions about my snow tires.

I could have waited 2 months and saved $1,500. Doh!

My brother got his Orange for a little under 18k a few months back at Hiley and even then they had to bring the car to the dealer. I must say it was quite a pleasing sight seeing a Mica Black and Spicy Orange MSP driving back and forth through the late evening Christmas Eve Dallas trafiic. I couldn't help but admire the good looks of the car and how well the spicy orange color turned out. It looks like an orange clear coat poured over a solid gold basecoat. Very good color. I feel eventually they will be more desirable than any of the other models.

If you have decent credit, go to your bank or credit union and get a loan for 15, then go to the dealer and offer them like 12 cash out the door. If they say no keep going up in like 300 or 400 increments until they say yes. I bet you walk with a fantastic deal.

I bought my MSP on 12/22/03. I got one of the last 4 remaining in Indiana. A local dealer had 3 yellow and 1 silver. I bought the silver one and got a great deal. I paid $16,200, there was still a little money left on the table, but I wasn't going to bicker. There are better cars out there, but for $16,200 it can't be beat with a stick. I read on some other forums that people had the problem with hesitation and got it fixed with a flash done by the dealer. I hate to admit it, but I have no idea what they are talking about. I have the same problem, but I've only got about 500 miles on the car and I'm waiting to hit 1,000 miles before I start to get into what it can do. Can someone tell me what that "flash" is? I'd like to have it done at my dealer.

Search under flash and you'll find a mountain of info.

It may have been done already. My car doesn't have a hesitation problem, but I have no idea if the flash was done or not. They generally apply a sticker under the hood, but not always. They were supposed to have flashed the cars on the lot after it came out, but they didn't always do that either.

If you notice a hesitation problem, its an easy dealer fix. If not, don't worry about it.

Yes, re-read it carefully. There is a $2,500 manufacturer to customer rebate and on top of that, there is $1,000 marketing support to the dealer.

There is no way a dealer is going to price match any increased rebate (I bought mine a month and a half ago when the rebate was only 2k) and less than no chance of you recovering a factory to dealer incentive. They don't even have to give you that if you were buying new, nor do they have to tell you about it. Its entirely up to them what to do with it- keep it and try to make more dough or use it to cut the price on the car and move more units at their standard profit.

Sorry, dude, you just aren't going to get it.

As for the guy with the question on cheap prices AND discounted financing- review the link. You can get some rebate and, of course, the dealer discount plus cheap financing, but you can't have it all at once.

You can get a pretty good price and cheap financing or a rock bottom price and market financing. You'll have to run the numbers to see whats best for you. Depends on your credit and how long you're thinking about financing.

I really want to buy one but its like I dont even feel like dealing with the dealership because I want scouting for a new MSP at 4 different dealerships and talked with a few salesmen about it and seemed really interested and none of them would budge on the price or even cared when I left (I even left my phone number and nobody called me back). So now Im just like whatever, if they dont want my sale Ill go travel 500 miles just to get this damn car, but not from you. So I was hoping more people could put what dealership they got their car from so others can maybe go to the same one ;)

I drove a Cooper S before I bought the MSP. It handled like a go kart, but too many times, I have seen women call it cute! No way! Bottom line: I paid $8000.00 less for the MSP than I would have for the MINI I wanted (about 25K, options galore). Where the MSP is as is from the dealership. A lot of the money I saved has gone towards mods, where as with the MINI I would only be able to make the payments. Plus, as a 4 door, the MSP had lower ins for me.

I bet you are excited, good luck!
