Hey everyone,

I've been in contact with Random Technology ( http://www.randomtechnology.com ) regarding the creation of a DP w/ highflow cat for the MSP. This DP w/ cat would give better flow than the stock DP without throwing the CEL that many of you experince after the removal of the cat. Moreoever, I know some of you will want to remove the cat regardless, so the creation of a testpipe should be possible. I have had experince with their products from when I was part of the Pontiac Grand Prix community - one of the local guys here actually designed the DP for the Grand Prixs. I can say that they have a quality product, which is something that many of us are looking for.

So far, they have created a 2.5" exhaust for the MSP; however, they are wanting to do more testing with it.

This thread is intended to gauge the interest in these products. I don't have specifics just yet, but hopefully I'll know soon. It really depends on the demand/ interest shown by us :).

If interested, please post here.

Thanks for you time :).

<----- Interested.

My next mod will be exhaust. Either a downpipe or a downpipe back to start (depending on how much cash I have).

Will this pass CARB? If so I'm interested if it's not crazy expensive. At least I want one that has a cat so I can hopefully pass the sniffer test.

I know that getting an EO number is hellish and that may not be a priority.

you really dont "need" an EO number for an exhaust, believe it or not. There is going to be a nationwide change to smog testing starting next year, where they plug into the ODB port, and check for codes, more then the sniffer test.

If you just need to pass a sniffer test, as long as the emissions pass, its good to go. an aftermarket exhaust will differ from car to car, so one may pass, and the other may not. Depending on an issues with the engine itself.

According to their website:

This design, which meets Federal EPA and California ARB requirements, enables virtually any vehicle with a properly tuned engine to meet emissions standards with little, if any power loss (compared to an exhaust with no catalytic converter). Please note that no aftermarket catalytic converters are legal for installation in California on OBD II vehicles (some 1994 & 1995, and all 1996 and later vehicles).

Whether or not they can tell that it is an aftermarket cat when being tested, I do not know?

That is CALI, not nationwide. I passed sniffer tests on my old Neon with a full cat back, and an after market cat.

Damn...I've been wanting a Random Cat'd DP...then I could go straight back w/o a second cat. I'd like to see this product come to fruition...Exhaust is the next mod on my list, once I get the money to do so. I would love to hear how it sounds with the stock exhaust as well, and how the full 2.5" they made sounds. I'm really trying to get the more sublte WRX sound out of my car, while I know it's hard, I know know that we can come close.

<------ Interested in a turbo-back system 2.5" and mandrel bent all the way through.

AT A REASONABLE PRICE.

Hey guys,

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the nationwide thing?

According to Random Technology's website and my aforementioned post, their cats "meet Federal EPA and California ARB requirements".

Hope this helps.

Hey,

I would be interested in the downpipe. Would love to hear a sound clip of their exhaust.
