The last thread strayed off into discussion about joining mazda motorsports to get certain pricing on certain parts, so this is a second attempt. For those interested in a GROUP BUY on an lsd, post so here. The price for everything needed is $550.

This is for the Quaife (http://www.mazdamotorsports.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PartDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&id=1338) unit Mazda Comp carries?
If so, I'm interested. How many buyers do you need for that price?

I have a feeling this GB is for the stock MSP Tochigi-Fuji LSD.
The $550 price sounds impossible for the $1227.00 Quaife unit sold through MazdaComp.
I'll keep saving.

this is for the Tochigi Fuji from the MSP, I do not need any set number of people for this price.
edit: dealer currently has four of these available for order now

I would be interested in this too, but I need someone to install it for me. Not feeling to sure about tearing a perfectly good transmission apart to install the LSD.....know what I mean?
How much would someone charge me to have the LSD installed?

it costs about 300 in labor for a clutch/flywheel combination. I'm going to hazard a guess of 450 - 500 for an LSD

in terms of parts, I have immediate access to four of these. He could have them to me within two days of ordering them. He says the bearings themselves are usually the harder item to locate, not the LSD.
whoever wants in, just say so :)

550 is the wholesale cost. retail is over 700.
I think he wants to know what will the total be with everything minus install.

all the parts = bearings + bolts + differential = $550
i will call around tomorrow, see if any shops are open, and get a labor quote.

labor for the installation on the limited slip is about $600. If you were to do it in tandem with a clutch and flywheel they would not charge you anything extra in labor.

I would think they would charge you more for having to open the tranny to put the LSD in, just not as much because it already is out of the car. They still need to crack open the tranny, which looks like a lot of work..

I am just stating the quote given to me by two shops in my area. $600 labor.

how long will this price be good for. im thinking my next project in the next few months after i get my wing, grille, stereo and UDP installed (most of which is already on order), ill save up for a LSD and clutch/flywheel. that way when i eventually go turbo ill be all set.

i know the short shifters are interchangable but the LSD i do not think is. sorry!

Ya, Ive been running a B&M shifter for about a year now, but cant find anything to use for a LSD besides phantom grip, I either have to do a Focus or MSP tranny swap if I want a LSD option. IMO MSP tranny would be easier since I could keep the shift linkage, Focus tranny I have to switch to cable and buy a new shifter.

what kind of torque with the msp lsd handle?
Captain KRM P5

what kind of torque with the msp lsd handle?
its pretty solid - its not as weak as a phantom grip but not as strong as a Quaife either. i have rarely heard of them breaking.

Ohh man this sounds so sweet. And the thing is that I know how to take diffs apart and put em back together...did em on rears, but never on a FWD. Shit...right now in auto class, all we're doing is differentials and trannys. Let me think about this one, I'll post soon...

just an FYI for everyone, this doesn't have to be a group buy for this price, however i would like to know who at this point is seriously interested. If you are ready to buy, let me know.

Does it include shipping? If not, how much is shipping to 97220? Do you still have some immidiately available? I will probably be up for one in about a week.
Thanks!

Okey doke, talked with my performance mechanics and my sponsor and have decided to go ahead and get the LSD over the EMS I was originally planning on getting. Which means I want to get the LSD and I have the money available. Just give me a total price for the LSD and Shipping and how to send the money.

The MSP LSD as discussed by SAE
Limited-slip differential
http://www.sae.org/automag/techawards/2002/21.jpgThe Super LSD (limited-slip differential) from Tochigi Fuji Sangyo KK includes a core clutch developed to work well with the strut suspension found in front-wheel-drive vehicles. The unit also works well in the front axle of four-wheel-drive off-road vehicles. Compared to other torque-sensing LSDs, the Super LSD has a lower torque bias ratio (1.5-2.0), which fits well with front suspension systems. Production costs are lower because of similarities to open differentials, and the device can be lubricated with standard differential fluid or ATF. The system can easily replace open differentials because it uses many of the same components and features identical installation points. The device provides good handling and control as well as a cost reduction.
