I have a catless dp and no resonator with the stock muffler, and today I noticed a buzz on engine decceleration from redline to about 4.5k rpm? I had the exhaust checked for leaks and all is good. Is it the stock muffler crapping out? Could it be a bad flex section in the DP?

Here are the links...about half way into the clips...right click and save as

I realized I spelled exhaust wrong...

Thanks.

why are you redlining it? how often do you drive that hard? is it the cold engine rattle? or did it just start doing it

the car is fully warmed up...and It started doing it after I removed my resonator. But I just want to know if that's what would happend when one removes a resonator. By the way, I was just revving there in neutral.

Thanks.

its the lack of resinator dude.. thats what its there for, to keep the cracking sound from happening... you really didnt have a whole lot of need to remove it, it doesnt hurt your performance hardly at all if any... its def. worth keeping on to keep that sound from happening..

yes, put on a friggen resonator... as long as its not a small diameter pipe it wont rob any power, and make that sound pretty much go away.

my exhaust was never buzzy like that, but it was to loud so i added a high flow resonator.. i love the way it sounds now.

How did you take those sound clips? I want to get some of my car but my digi camera sounds like shit when you do movies with it.

here is a pic of my resonator.

I used a mic and my laptop. Have the mic volumeall the way up and cover the mic with a fabric, like a winter hat or something. Put the mic on the ground below the muffler, but make sure it's away from all the water that gets thrown out of the muffler. By the way, the turbo defenitely spools faster. The BPV goes off all the time now. Have fun!

i want to get a clip while im driving of mine... could be dificult. Maybe i can hang the mic out the trunk while i drive.

I think if you stick the mic in the trunk you'll pretty much get the same sound as outside?

yea.. i figure i could shut the trunk on the cord just leaving it hang out a little.

I heard someone w/ an Apex'i Downpipe and Spool Catback and it sounds the same. It's just the larger sectoin piping and no cats / resonator which causes this noise unfortnately

It's actually very quite driving...I was surprized. Doesn't buzz at all.
