Here's some installed pics of the dg cf grill on my car along with the downforcers.. there were some imperfect edges on the back and some bubbles, but i'm gonna paint it anyway

That looks great. Any particular reason why you are going to paint it?

i want it to perfectly match with my car.. from the pics you can't see it, but it sorta stands out

very easy.. only hard part was separating the bottom of the stock grill from the 3 studs holding it in place.. and i didn't screw the screws in all the way as i began to hear cracking noises, but it's fine.. doesn't move

The more i look at it the more I can see what you mean by it standing out. I love the look of CF though.

Did you have to paint the aluminum black or did they do it for you?

No matter how you paint it .. if a rock hits the grill you will get chips -- this is what is happening to yours now, and will continue to happen even if you repaint it. Im sure that those of you who have the darker colored P5s notice rocks chips on your front bumpers too ... do you repaint that every time?
Or is it crappy Mazda quality? Matthew?

Hey, I am not doubting mazda's paint. I know someone with a MSP ... name disclosed. That hit a stationary van going 50 and didnt chip the paint.. or did he just get lucky?

Maybe you are all lucky but after 40k miles my stock bumper had a few tiny chips along the bottom edge of the bumper.

Maybe the plastic front bumper flexes a little bit when a pebble hits it, so the paint doesn't chip off as easily as it would off of the super-hard carbon fiber(which wouldn't flex at all). (dunno)
I wonder if anybody noticed the paint chipping off of their painted c/f front lips or hoods. (uhm)

the cf isn't chipping on the grill, it's the painted mesh
