I am looking to get an exhaust for my speed and I dont want it to sound like a honda civic lol. I am looking for a deep gurgle sound. the best sounding one ive found was the Ion performace turbo back but 1400 bucks is a little pricy. any sugestions?? I am also looking for a intercooler/hardpiping kit. I do not know that much about turbo cars and I want to know if a BPV makes noise? i was told the car will stall with a blow off valve and it will make it run too rich or something. thanks guys.

another thing is i want to boost my car to 12PSI. How can i do this with a long lasting safe result? I know there is more to this than the exhaust and hardpiping FMI.

Flashed or unflashed? Is your premium pump gas 91, 93, or 94 octane?

You'd definitely want colder spark plugs. There's people here that run 12 psi daily, so it can be done. How long your car can survive at 12 psi is another story.

Currently i'm running a Thermal 3" exhaust with a Protosport Downpipe. You can pick up that system for like $800.00. Protosports I believe is 250... and we are selling the MSP Thermal 3" Cat-back exhaust for $550.00 shipped. To be honest, some say my ehaust system sounds like a WRX.. Who knows

Ok...you'll have to explain to me how you completely missed the post "Calling all MSPs with aftermarket exhaust..." That thread has sound bites of 6 differnt exhaust types, pics of 3 or 4 of them, and opinions from their users in part. Not trying to be an ass, but the newer folks around here *have* to look around at the other posts before posting. Chances are your questions have already been answered.

Sorry about the rant...but just check out that thread...here's the link (http://www.msprotege.com/vbb225/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43030)

As for the IC and hardpiping, there's a sticky that lists who makes what at the top of this section. Right now it's iON and nobody else at market, I think. There will be others soon from Wagnar motorsports and possible protosport and some others. If the sticky lists Spool...disregard that. :(

well can you link me to your website or something??? it would be cool if you could get me a sound clip. So far i think the Ion exhaust is the best but it is pricy as hell.

also i run 93 in my car all the time. im just trying to see if it is worth my time and money to build this car and if this thing will be more of a nightmare than it already has been with problems.

alright well just so ya know man i looked at that thread i am just trying to get more opinions. the only exhaust on that thread that sounded mean was the Ion exhaust. also..... why not spool? and what if i just get everything custom done?? i have a shop here in arizona that will do the intercooler work for me and all with their own parts. i dont know which way is better.

USE THE SEARCH BUTTON.
THIS IS GONE OVER AND OVER AND OVER.

Sorry to be a jerk, but i swear there are so many dumb threads.. its irritating to read the same questions by different people.

Read the stickies, and use the search. The info is there, and its all good stuff, i promise.

Ususally custom done is the way it turns out going, but there's not a whole lot of RnD in "custom done." If you're sure the shop can do a good job then I'd choose them over someplace that 500+ miles away! :D

I just noticed that you posted in there...I'm not sure why you think the iON is the only mean sounding one. Striker's car sounds great to me. The iON is nice as well...I like the MP3 with stock muffler, too. I'm goign after more of the WRX sound, personally. That's why I'd like to head ProParts', there...

well, glad to know my thread is helping people :)

i'll try to answer some of your questions. to be completely honest, there isn't a big aftermarket support for the msp and there probably never will be since it's a limited production car. so if you want performance parts, it's either gonna be a universal part, a custom job, or from a shop that specializes in mazdas.

that being said, if you're wanting an exhaust, well, you know where all the sound clips are. so far, i think i'm the only one to post a clip of a custom job for an msp (meaning the exhaust i have is unique to my car). i got mine done at a generic muffler shop in houston. www.maycomufflershop.com so as of right now, your choices are either a custom job, or one of the others listed in that thread. thermal also recently released a catback so there's another option there.

fmic is the same story. with spool's change in ownership, ion is the only supplier of an fmic kit, though others will be available. ion's is a quality kit and is the one i'm planning on going with. check out the writeup in january's issue of turbo magazine. otherwise, once again, it's a custom job.

as for the bpv, yes, you can hear it, even in stock form. add an open air filter element and you'll hear it that much more. that's the 'turkey' everyone's talking about. yes, you can use a bov and while you will have problems with stalling, many have found the car won't stall very easily. others have found it stalls quite easily. so that'll be your call to make.

sorry for the long post but i hope that helps :)

well i guess what id have to say about that is thanks for the info. I am prolly gonna end up buying everything custom made and putting it on my car myself. I know where the BPV is but ive never heard it make noise. Ive just heard the wastegate which isnt that loud either. How can i make the stock one sound good for now? is there a way?

Striker187

really? you can easily hear it. put the car in 2nd, and accelerate. you should feel the turbo spool up around 3k. if you shift or release the gas pedal quickly, you'll hear it....prolly hear it better with the windows down a bit. unfortunately with the stock bpv and stock setup, you'll only be able to get a turkey.

Prodigy926 - here are the sound clips FYI.

You get what you pay for. If you're looking for making the most power you can efficiently, then you'll want to get our system. If that's not a priority to you and sound is, then look at a cheaper one.

When you go custom, by the time you're satisfied with the end result, you've often spent more then what you would've spent on something that's pre-made for your car. There's no point in re-inventing the wheel when someone has already perfected it. ;)

There are a few ways were we could cut costs, however those ways do no live up to our own standards, and as such we won't make it. If it's not the best, then we won't do it. Just as simple as that. :) Do it right the first time, otherwise it becomes a headache ;)
