View Full Version : Gaz cover/Overflow thingy missing ?????

Was putting gaz the other day and noticed when I pulled out the pistol that there was something missing. Unless it's my imagination, I could have sworn that there is a piece that springs up or down, closing and opening the entry to the gaz tank. (I know my VW had something for sure.)

Can anyone check on theirs if you know what I'm talking about?

Hmm. Anyone else? Perhaps someone who just recently got it. Just curious to see if everyone has a flap floating in the gaz tank, or it was never there.

The flap that is pushed away by the gaz station pistol when you put gaz. AFter you unscrew the cap, there should be a flap that blocks the entry as to not let anything go in (or come out) when you forget??? to screw the cap back on. Mine has dissapeared. Is probably floating in the Gaz tank.

Mine had one and know it doesn't.

AND DON'T BE A DICK! MINE HAD ONE!

Over the production run some had a flap and some didn't . In most cases there was no flap. Do a search on all FORUMS!
I bought my 2002 P5 in May 2001 and the re was a flap for about 6 months and then it fell into tank. I complained to DEALER and they said there was no flap (they say they checked all P5s on lot) but I know what I seen so I had them put my complaint in writing so if it fu**s the filter or pump I am covered.

If you are really worried about a Flappy thing in your tank... Lift the back seat up, unscrew some screws and fish it out for yourself.
