I was wondering how say any upgraded downpipe fits up with the stock exhaust.

Wouldn't there be issues in mating a 2.5" pipe and flange, to our stock exhaust? I've read many threads on D/P's and havent' heard of this issue.

Im' looking to get a 2.5 d/p custom made, if i don't get the performance and sound i'm lookin for, i think the next logical step would be to do the rest of the exhaust and LOOSE the Resinator.
But again, i'm sure i'll have the same problem again mating the mid pipe to the end pipe.

Thanks for the help people :)

most dps have a reducer at the s-pipe end and a flange thats the same size as stock but has a 2.5" i.d. (inner diameter) compared to the 2.25" i.d. 3" dp is a different can of worms thou...

should work ok!

But for max performance a reducer further away from the turbine is bad. Remember colder gases will flow slower.

But, it will be ok.

Right on. My issue was restriction. If you were to look inside the pipe where the 2.5 meets stock, there should be a ledge since the stock dia is smaller.
This would definately disrupt the flow of the system. Expanding the stock midpipe so it is a smooth connection would be idea, but you'd most likely have to replace the entire midpipe.
