Guys,
Im new to the whole mod game, so please fill me in. Im looking into the injen cai. How much horsepower gain can I expect and will it void my prescious warranty?
thanks

I don't think it will void your warranty, I think to void your warranty, the dealership has to be able to prove that it was the cause of the problems that you would get worked on under the warranty, so if it doesn't cause problems, then it won't void it. Correct me if I am wrong.

Warranty void = no, unless you drive through a lake.
HP = dangerous question...
We have dynos showing 10-15whp gains, but Turbo magazine is saying that they didn't notice anything, or possibly a decrease.

ok, why the hell would anyone spend 250.00 on something that doesn't work? Does anyone feel a difference in pull or how the engine responds? It must do something, so many of you guys have that as your first mod.
oh yeah, has anyone had check engine lights go off with just a cai added?

If it doesn't work and they buy it, I would assume they know it doesn't do anything.
I don't think the cai would give a CEL.

I have it and it did a hell of the job on the hesitation, but I still had some mid rpm stumble. The flash handled that. I felt like I gained about 10whp in the butt dyno, but I never had the cash to Dyno it, so I couldn't really tell you.

When did turbo magazine write up the injen intake for our car?
Did you have the intake before or after the flash?

I had the intake pre-flash and it helped then. you can ask OrangeAppeal. He drove my car pre-flashed with only the injen.
Turbo didn't do a write-up yet, but Ion was claiming that he had some inside info on the situation from one of the editors, since they are providing parts for the Turbo project MSP.

don't buy a CAI expecting any noticeable HP increases.... call me crazy but my car actually feels LESS powerful now! (but only by a ever so slight margin) here's my oppinion... I have no regrets because A) it sounds cool! B) looks cool! C) was the first of a string of "mods" I did to my car... felt good to install it.. ya know? and lastly... umm... ok, there is no lastly! sorry bout that... if I were you... I'd get the Injen! the sound alone made it worth the dough!

Oh. I was just curious about the intake before flash because I heard the it leans a/f mixture and since our cars run so rich I would think it would make a difference. Is it lound inside the cabin, or only when the windows are rolled down?

I remember seing a vid but some vids I watched have mics in different areas of the car. Im definately going to get one in the future, but when I do I think I'll by the bypass filter for it from aem just to be on the safe side. Does that affect performance?

Can't use the Bypass with a turbo. Read up on AEM's site.

It helped me out...I had a little pre-flash w/ injen, and still some mid-range stumble. But those are all but gone now. The only thing I get now and then is the VICS bounce.

Do you have a CAI? Nice to see some CT people on here, the only thing is I never see this car around!

True or untrue i heard boxed intakes are better on turbo cars. Best first mod i would say is a dp or exhaust. Im probably keeping my box and just swapping the filter for a KandN. Just buy a FMIC

Not sure if the stock air box is better than a CAI but a CAI is certainly less restrictive in my opinion. Im not a big fan of loud exhausts unless there on a bike, so if I can find a mellow exhaust that does add power I may think about it.

Which, IMO, is a good thing!!! but... maybe once in a while it would be cool to give a thumbs up to a fellow MSP owner... (as long as he isn't driving an Orange!! hahaha) j/k

I don't have a CAI, I had thought about it but it sounds like most people aren't getting the power returns I was hoping for...still might do it when it warms back up. If you decided to go for it let me know how it turns out.
