Can someone explain to me what their MSP sounds like when the ABS is engaged?
Mine is a crunching/grinding noise/pedal feeling. Other vehicles I have had were more of a studder i.e. more of a duh-duh-duh-duh sound/feeling in the pedal than a krrrsckkkkkgt.
Is this normal? I did a few searches search but... I dont think I have anything stuck in my dust shield and it only happens when I brake hard intentionally and I am sure that this is related to the ABS or EBD.

On some cars it can be a pretty nasty noise. The ABS has only activated once on my car and I wasn't expecting it (turning into liquor store at about 5mph), at first I thought there was something wrong with the car, but then I realized it must be ABS.

Our limited slips are noisey as well.
If I turn my wheel all the way to the left (till it locks) I get a grinding noise... almost like a rubbing noise. I checked undere there and no rubbing... so I assume that it's just the LSD doing it's job b/c the wheels are turned so far to the left. It doesn't do it to the right though..
It could be that as well?

Yeah, my ABS sounds/feels like grinding brakes as well. It's a lot different than my last car...where you could feel the individual pulses through the pedal.

Yep, my ABS does the same thing. It was also very new to me and it freaked me out at first. Now I'm just used to it.
Yep, I get it, too.
I used to get a noise like that in my old car -- except it wasn't equipped with ABS. And it seemed to be coming from the rear of the car -- but my rear brakes on my old shit-kicker were drum brakes. Never figured out what it was. So, beats the hell out of me how the two sounds are so alike. The noise is strikingly similar, though, and the first time I heard it from the MSP, it really freaked me out.
After it happened a few times, I figured it had to be the ABS. I had my rotors checked and all that, so .. yep.
And mine seems to happen only when I turn hard to the left, too. Wonder what that's about.

GABerry,
I personally think it's the LSD :D I will have the dealer take a look at this the next time I take it in for service (or an oil change) :D

.. Y'think?
Unfortunately, I don't know too much about LSD's and how they work -- YET -- but why would it kick in while BRAKING? Again, excuse my stupidity, but doesn't the LSD only engage while, y'know, hitting the gas?
.. Feel free to give me an educational lesson on LSD's here. ;)

I feel the same way too.....
I dunno... It grinds whenever I turn left all the way and hit the gas (I didn't read about the brake part). I think the LSD is doing it's job esp when turning all the way left. Right side is the drive wheel, so that wheel is doing the turning, but when turning left, you're losing traction (esp. when the wheel is locked all the way left). The LSD senses the loss of traction and aids in spinning. My buddy whom knows more about LSD than I said that Quaifes LSD's grind and groan when not completely straight (b/c the path of the wheel). I asked him about the grinding and he said that it was just the LSD working.
I've heard a lot of people complain about the grinding during breaking. The only thing I can think of is the abs detects sliding/spinning due the LSD hooking up (esp on that left side) and kicks in to stop the wheels from "spinning". I think that it's the LSD IMHO.
Others please let me know if my thought process is incorrect. Thanks
