In everybodys opinion, what are the top 10 things to do to an MSP(too add HP), that will not out right VOID the warranty? I understand that some dealerships and mechanics are assholes and will try to say that several mods will VOID warranty but lets list the safest mods in your minds. Thanks.

Do they all need to be performance mods? I think that adding a boost gauge is one of the first things you should do & there shouldn't be any way that it messes with your warranty (unless you complete fuxor the install).

floor mats
cd changer
carbon fiber dash trim
hideously large spoilers
stickers
wheels
neon lights
seatbelt covers
led winshield washers
and lastly....NITROUS!!

I was told by my dealer that the boost gauge I installed "tampered" with the boost control system and voided my warranty.

ok. newsflash:
Depends on your dealership. They can be cool (unlikely) or be complete stingy ass pricks (more likely)
Honestly, if you do anything under the hood minus placing stickers and aesthetic fix ups, it can void your warranty.
If you *tamper* with anything it can and depending upon your problem, will most likely void your warranty.
If you go in for the flash and you have a boost gauge i doubt they will say anything, BUT if you go in because you have a rod sticking out of your block and coolant spilling everywhere then, yes i will venture to say they willl void your warranty.
If you give them a reason to void your warranty they will (IE you blow ur engine) they will find the most miniscule thing to try and get you.
In conclusion, if you are going to mod, and mod liek you want to I.e performance (boost increase catless DP etc) Make sure you have the means to fix it if it breaks.
I am learning the 5,500 dollar way. Not the way i wanted to however.

Might I remind you that there is a law to protect consumers on this. There used to be a sticky for it in the mazdaspeed aftermarket guide. But for some reason someone thought it would be a good idea to unsticky it.

^^ omg i like the consumers bill of rights and all but it is NOT a BILL and wont hold a grain of salt in court or any legal proceedings. Then again the magnuson moss act is a different story.

Notorius....geez man, you're a day late and a dollar short. We've put the warranty issue to rest. We have reached a final and true verdict......it is this.
"ANYTHING a dealership feels is inappropriate can potentially void your warranty. Your legal protection at this point is subject wether or not there is a binding arbitration agreement with the dealership. If there is then you have no legal recourse. If you don't have an arbitration agreement then you have very little room to breathe. Dealerships can squeeze you for time while you pay a retainer for a lawyer. At this point it's cheaper to just pay for the repair yourself. DEALERSHIPS ARE SCAMS"

I guess I never read that thread. How would the moss act fit into this. The consumer bill of rights is useless, i barely look into that. But I thought the moss act was our true protection.

the M-M Act states that a dealership has to prove that the warranty claim (problem) occurred as a result of you tampering (modifying) with the vehicle. ie: they can't link an intake to wheel bearings.

again, I thought guys knew better than this...my previous still stands. With an arbitration agreement YOU HAVE NO LEAGAL RECOURSE. Now without an arbitration agreement here's what will happen:
you: My motor failed (just saying)
them: Ok, well it looks you've got an aftermarket intake. that voids your warranty.
you: no it doesn't, you have to prove that the intake destroyed my motor.
them: No, we don't have to do a damn thing (word for word quote what MNAO told me)
you: well I can sue you then.
them: go ahead, we'll tie you up in court so long you never see judgement and you've spent more on legal fees than you'll ever hope to get out us.
This is how it goes.....it's sad but true. If you get free legal counsil then by all means feel free to sue the dealership, but you won't get anywhere. Just fix your car yourself....you're looking at a couple hundred dollar repair versus thousands in legal fees. What are you going to do?

Most dealers will try to void your warranty for ANYTHING!
I had a dealer try to tell me they wouldn't warranty the cat heat shield that fell off because I had a strut tower brace on a Focus SVT.
:wtf:
I went ballistic and got my new heat shield. I don't go there anymore.

that's why you don't sign an arbitration agreement :)

In Alabama there is only 1 dealership that won't make you sign an arbitration agreement and it's a caddilac dealer....I wouldn't buy a caddy with YOUR money. Next new car I buy I will get in Georgia or Tennesse.
