Well I just got back from vaction so I did not get a chance to post earlier... I have a bone stock MSP and I heard it make the turkey noise for the first time at 4k miles and on thankgiving. Now its doing it almost every time I shift.

Gobble gobble gobble...

i wouldnt think that is good to hear with a stock airbox. Check to make sure everything is connected on the intake side of things

Neh. I could always hear mine you just have to listen for it with the stock airbox. Windows up, radio off, fan off and let off the throttle quickly. I ain't scared.

yeah you could still hear it with stock airbox, its just really muffled.

I can hear it fine with the stock box.

I'm still convinced that the turkey is not a negative thing. I've got to get around to talking with the guy over at Callaway who did the engineering.

I heard my turkey once in awhile with my stock MSP. Usually hear it on second gear when I rev over 4000 rpm, and then change to the third gear. Don't know if this is a common thing.

hmmm....never heard it on mine. Mines does the woooosh or pshhhhh. If I take it to 3.5 or 4k and shift it goes pshhhhh.

Compressor surge is always negative. But at stock boost it probably won't be that big of a problem.

What I'm getting at is I'm not convinced its compressor surge. We'll see what Callaway has to say about it.

I am no turbo expert by any means, but I don't think our beloved turkey is a good thing. I think it adds character to the car, but at a meet the other day I was showing off my super turkey (I have an Injen intake) and some of the guys were in front of the car with the hood popped. After they got done laughing themselves silly they pointed out to me that they watched the turbo to throttle body pipe swell nearly an inch. I repeated this with another friend this morning and he said he saw the same thing. The way I see it if there is that much swelling the stock BPV is not able to vent efficently enough therefore creating a high pressure environment that the poor little T25 is still trying to force air into with little success.

That is why those who have added just a BOV are still geting the Turkey. Even the BOV alone still can't handle it because of its location. I think that is why 505ZOOM so easily slayed the turkey by keeping the BPV and adding a BOV. Two different locations to release the pressure one in the middle between the turbo and the IC and one right near the TB where a huge amount of high pressure is created when the plate snaps closed. Add hard pipes to this equation and it is even more efficent because the hard pipes don't swell as much so the air vents out the hole it's given rather than trying to go in every which way causing the swell.

Color me yellow and call me Scurred, but my Greddy is on the way and the hard pipes will be coming with my FMIC. Sorry turkey, you're a funny little guy but it's time to die.

hey guys, i havent posted much, but i always thought that the turkey sound was the bypass valve... cause it happens whenever a blow-off valve sound is suppose to happen... If you got a blow off valve and got the pshhh sound would that then get rid of the turkey?

you guys know what else does the turkey noises? a bus. yes, that's right, a Metro, CNG powered, commuter bus. it does it SICK. worse than ANY msp. even 505's b4 his tweaking.

It's compressor surge...and the noise will still be there if you just change the valve.

To get rid of it, you have to run dual valves...505zoom killed off his turkeys this way.

It won't cause problems at stock boost, but at higher boost it MAY cause problems in the long run.

I'll let you guys know what Callaway says in regards to this. I'm very curious what they'll come back with.

has anyone (besides the HKS guy with hard pipes) try putting the DV closer to the throttle body?
