This has been touched on in a bunch of threads but i dont think i have ever really gotten an answer...

only post if you have the requested information please so we dont go off on a tangent.

If your mazdaspeed 3 stage paint has been matched perfectly by a body shop that said it was "easy" or by a body shop that used a specific, repeatable, method of matching the colors, please get the specifics of what they did from them.

There are all CRAP body shops in my area and one shop in my town that does awesome awesome high end work on custom choppers. I had him paint my lip and grill and he said the paint code was of no help whatsoever and that he ended up putting together like 15 different mixtures by eye until he finally found the one that was right. And while it looks perfect to me, he says its still not a perfect match and he would be hard pressed to match it that well again, and that even if he did on a large panel to panel area like the his painted hood to the OEM painted fender, it would be noticable. Thus he says he is gonna have to blend the hood into the fender if i want my hood painted orange but then my stock hood wont match whern i put it on.

So this one time, the first day I got my car I hit a deer. We have deer in my area, but I had never seen one. Worst part is that I was taking my mom on a test drive. I mean this thing came out of nowhere, and just kinda fell onto my hood. When I stopped to see if it was ok, the deer had taken off, and no visable damage to the car at all. So I drove home. For all I know , the deer could have ran off and died. But there was nothing I could have done.

Apple Baboon, with the fig newtons tied onto the sandwich. Sometimes when I play slurpee my earlobes turn into a butter jel with the Carbon Fiber Orion Computer. When I got my lava lamp, The Trillian bed was out of Phone, so I called in the MSP, and the bath tub to save the day.

PM Nemasis. She had a little run in early in her cars life and the shop out here did an awesome job matching it. You'd never know it from looking at it. She can probably fill you in on the specifics of what the shop did to match it. One thing for sure I'm taking my valve cover cover and downforcers to them to have them painted.

Spicy you're such a smart ass. lol.

I posted this earlier, but I'm glad to post it again. I had the same problem with my blazing yellow. The paint guy tried multiple times to match it and couldn't They ordered what he called a "paint-pack" from Mazda, and it matched perfectly. They have to spray the base first, then the pearlescent, then the clear. Hope that helps you out
