I have heard and also read online that there could be plans in the near future to make a mazdaspeed 6. Is this true or are they just lies?

Good news:
Mazdaspeed6 has been approved for production in 2005

Bad News:
Europe only, though I would assume Japan will get it too. Not yet approved to come to N. America (it may not come at all).

Thank you DOT and NHTSA. If you were not so anal about safety and liability we could enjoy some of world's best looking and fastest cars.

Actually, I wouldn't place the blame on DOT & NHTSA. Maybe there's just not enough of a business case for MazdaUSA to bring it. At this point, I really couldn't tell you why Euro (and probably JDM) is getting it but not N. America - there can be so many reasons. And who knows, maybe it will come to N. America - 2005 is still a long time away.

I am not sure if you know, but all the vehicles sold in US have to meet tough EPA standards for emission, and DOT requires all cars to have reinforced bumpers, lets see... oh yeah... this one is really anal: all cars are to have a side marker in front of front wheel, and behind the rear wheel. Sometimes, there is an exception, when a side marker is build into the headlamp unit, like on all 3rd gen Protege Sedans, but Protege 5 was not so lucky, and got an orange side marker on its front bumper. So, as you can see, most manufacturers have to design a car from two perspectives, one for USA and one for the rest of the world. Mazdaspeed aparantly, designs their cars for the rest of the world first, and redesigning it for USA is probably too much trouble to go through (financially).

Oh yes, I know about the tough DOT & NHTSA regulations. But I'm just saying that its a bit presumptuous to say that the reason this vehicle isn't coming to N. America is because of N. American regulations. We just don't know the facts yet.

The fact is, any company willing to sell a car in USA has to meet regulations. The fact is, it costs money to change a car to meet USA regulations, and when engineers report to their bosses, the only thing the bosses want to hear is how to spend as less amount of money as possible. Thus, I do not think Mazdaspeed can afford to do tons of modifications to what is to be Mazdaspeed6 for the US. Remember, all Mazdaspeed is a performance subsidary. Yes, Mazda owns it, but Mazdaspeed has its own engineers that work separately from those from Mazda Corp.

The Miata is the next MS Car. There are NO OTHER MAzdaspeed vehicles slated for release in the US. This is directly from MAzdaspeed NA operations Director, KElvin Hiriashi. I got that word from him at SEMA.

i think hyperwhite bulbs in the dash might do that to the needles if they are the white needles like those...sick looking 6 though.
