Question about the center console

Last night during a P5 test drive I mentioned to the salesman that I "wasn't sure" about the fluxuating LED line on the Mazda 3 console. He told me "oh, I think you can turn that off".

Is that true?

That makes a huge difference to my impression of the interior design!! I wasn't really keen on that light-line.
