In Autox, what class is a stock Protege5 in? How about mine w/ some Eibach springs?
Thanks!

Protege5 would be in H Stock class. All Proteges (all generations) are H Stock EXCEPT the MP3, which is in G Stock.
But since you made a suspension modification with the Eibach springs, you will be bumped into the STS class, where all the slammed Civics, Integras, and WRXs will be in

maybe I'll just keep running the miata in C stock. Sliding is F U N... But tires are E X P E N S I V E. What to do? The protege5 is also loaded down with my custom sub box and has a Yakima rack that I hate taking off and putting on :( . I gots a couple of weeks to decide.

Run the Miata. You will not be competitive with a sub box and bike rack in tow. And having to remove and put back on that stuff will be a major pain in the butt.

Man, have you seen my box:eek: It weighs at least 150lbs. Your probably right, maybe I'll run the miata.
thanks

sts doesnt have WRx's in it...if u have a WRX ull go from g-stock to STX to then to SM....STX is pritty mutch a subaru class becouse they have advantages over other cars(traction).
and if u have anythig done to ur car ull got to STS. intake, springs, header, RIMS. pritty mutch the only things u can do to ur car and still say in the stock class is Struts, catback exaust, brake pads and roters that are stock size(means that u cant have bigger brackets to put on bigger rotors.
at least that what my undertanding of the rules are.
my .o2 cents

you forgot the biggest allowed modification in stock class: use of R-compound tires.
just by using these tires you can shave off approx. 2 seconds from your street tire times.
2 seconds is A LOT in autox world.

who said u can use r-compound...that will put u into STs i whought...i could be wrong but im pritty sure im corect...
and just to ad something to what zoomzoomH said. the right tires will make the biggest diff. compared to any other mod. u do. r-compound tires kick ass......AO32R;s and azenas(sp?), and hooshers...i want one of those....

yes R-compounds ARE allowed in stock class. That is one of the biggest attractions to STAY in stock class, just so you can use those wonderful tires.
on the other hand, you are NOT allowed to use R-compound tires in either ST classes (STS or STX). The best 'street tire' for the ST classes is the Falken Azenis, FYI.

OK, H Stock Class for the MP5. I'll give it a try this Summer on the stock Dunlop 5000's, they'll probably get eaten up pretty fast. I'm really impressed with the handling on the P5. Tires & wheels are definitely cheaper than the old BMW I was running last year. (Z3 Coupe 2.8)
