WTF, how do you guys have this etup to work properly???????? i cant find any pics and i cant get the damn thing to work right??? i have an adapter flange bolted to the BOV and some tubing reduced down to the size of the nipple on the intercooler pipe via, grey pvc fitting. all it does is make a high pitch whistle through the rpms and then nothing in between shifts. at idle, i can feel it open up when i rev it with my hand, but it wont do anything in between the shifts????????? this really blows, well not even, fuck me!!!!! need some help please??
thanks

i think you have to actually drive it , under load
instead of with your finger

Here are the steps to get you going (a basic "How To" set up your GReddy Type-S):

1. Take off the hose for recirculating the BOV.
2. Turn on the car.
3. Loosen the spring until you start to feel air coming out of the BOV at idle.
4. Tighten the spring just to the point where the air stops coming out of the BOV at idle.
5. Tighten the spring 1 complete turn from this point and secure lock nut.
6. Re-attach the hose for recirculating the BOV.
7. Rev the motor and let off to make sure the BOV is venting properly.
8. Go for a drive and verify BOV is not leaking boost and is venting properly.

If the BOV is leaking boost, tighten spring 1/4 turn and re-test. You may have to do a few adjustments to get it just right.

hey chojin, what if we don't have a boost gauge? is there a way to tell if we're leaking boost while driving?

If you don't have a boost gauge, the best way is to over-tighten the spring until you get slight compressor surge and then loosen the spring until the compressor surge is gone.

yeah, i get it to vent properly when i am reving it, so i assume that it vents properly while driveing, but, with this specific BOV, i thought that i would get something that sounded like an aftermarket bov, not something that sounds EXACTLY like the stock BPV. and by the way, im not recerculating??? i mean, this BOV should let out a loud shrieking whitstle shouldnt it?? www.blowoffvalves.com has sound clips of the type s, and it sounds BADASS. i can only get it to sound like the stock BPV venting???

chojin - makes sense to me, thanks :)

got boost - weird. you should get that sound...you are pushing enough boost to get that sound. but i think a couple other people have tried the greddy and have only gotten something that sounded simliar to the stock bpv. who knows?

maybe the screw is in too far bring it out to halfway and see what it does

yeah, ive had that damn screw everywhere. hell i just was outside and gave it a shot with the screw about 5 threads from being all the way out and i doint get any whistling. it still didnt even vent at that point. but now after doing some deep searching, about an hours worth, im leaning towards the ide that the BOV is too far away from the TB and its just not getting as much pressure by the time it gets to the BOV inlet? i think that makes sense, but it still pisses me off that i have to try and figure something else up now?? if thats the case, i dont know what to do short of buying hard pipes, and i cant afford 400 bucks for a while, probably till after christmas and insurance, which means im still stuck with the fuckin turkey till then. unless anyones got a radical idea??? im beggin here:confused:

i don't think that's the reason why. people who weld the bov on to the ic get a very loud sound out of their bov. granted, where our stock bpv is, it may not react as fast compared to if it were placed near the tb, but it should still be getting enough pressure.

btw, chojin, what did/does your greddy type s sound like with the setup with the stock pipes?

There have been a bunch of msp owners that have complained of the trukey noise with the type S.

I have the TypeS on my turbo kit at it sounds like a sharp whistle. There are a bunch of threads about the turkey sound, check them out...

Unfortunately, you will always get the turkey sound when using the stock i/c piping and an aftermarket BOV -> due to the small diameter hose used to connect the two.

The only way to get rid of this turkey sound is to get hard piping with the appropriate BOV flange.

Anyone in DFW has heard my HKS.
It's loud, and it whistles like it is supposed to.
It uses stock air box and i/c piping for now.

Here's the pic.
