alright thanks for the help...what does reseting the ECU do anyway?
it clears the memory of the fuel maps so it can make new ones. btw, if u do this, let ur car idle for 5 minutes so the ecu can readjust to whatever adjustments u made

that is a little misleading...resetting the ECU simply resets any problems with the parimeters for selecting the pre-set maps...From what I understand the maps are imbedded in the system permanantly, and the individual maps are selected via input from different sensors...
There isn't really any advantage to resetting the ECU unless the MIL is on, in which case it erases the memory of the noticed problem...allowing the ECU to operate as normal...The ECU will only need to relearn the idling properties and light load closed loop operation based on the O2 sensor, which happens very quickly...but it has little effect on map selection for open loop...
yeah my bad...i based that post on what i read on past threads...sorry installshield 2

I was wondering....i am going to the dealership soon to get my car flashed.....Would it be smart to take off my timer? Or should i
And would i need to make an appointment??

That depends....Turbo timers are good for the turbo, and therefor the warranty...If the dealership knows anything that won't get pissed about it...
but they could still consider it a modification in which if you have problems of anykind with the turbocharging system they could blame it on that...Not likely, but some dealers are filled with dicks...
I would take it off just to be safe, and maybe ask what their policy is on said modifications...

No big deal man...Just trying to help clarify what happens when you reset the ECU...Some people begin to correlate resetting the ECU with gaining performance, which doesn't happen...and resetting the ECU overall is much more harmful for the sensitive electronics of it than having a tech erase the MIL memory...
