hey guys i have a 2003.5 non-flashed msp and was wondering how much boost I could push without breaking a rod without fuel management and with a front mount intercooler from spool? thanks guys

discreet speed is supposedly running 15psi daily with no problems.

discreet is also flashed btw. run a search and you'll find more info. most people boost 9-10psi flashed or unflashed. it is recommended that you do not boost past 9 if you're flashed....but seeing as how you're not....guess it's up to you how high you wanna go. a few have boosted 12 psi.....if it were me, i'd boost maybe 9-10 for now until you get something to control fuel AND timing.

Please do not even suggest that to someone. You may be able to spike 15psi a few times in low gears, but you will lose the engine if you're holding 15psi in 4th or 5th gear on pump.
soupedmsp, running 10psi (steady) should be fine if you have stock fuel & exhaust. Any more and it gets risky.

Regardless, unless you're certain, I wouldn't hint to someone that it's ok to do. I really doubt Discreet has done a 5th gear pull holding 15psi. Not even in fear of detonation, it's just too much load for the stock rods.

thats why i threw in the supposedly, it supposed to be kind of a trigger to not do it... i guess for once i wasnt vocal enough.

you wont get even close to 15psi without doing anything about that damn pesky fuel cut.
I wouldnt go above 10psi without some really good fuel or at the very least a colder set of plugs.

i dunno the outcome of that claim...some people called BS and then he called them less than a man i think for not boosting above stock, and it spiraled into a typical msp thread. i unsubscribed

do this shiat at your own risk...i plan on upgrading them so i guess i will see how long the stock internals last at this psi.
i dont think ive even boosted long 5th gear at 15psi..here in city driving. either way i switch over to low boost when in 5th for a long time. ;)
oh yeah and id say 12 is a great psi to run.

Hey if i ran 9 psi daily would that be safe? i wanna get an mbc and just set it for that and not have to bother with it. That and a cai is all i really want. i just dunno how safe it would be
Matthew

i wouldnt worry about it. i think there are a lot of people boosting 9psi

The only way I have seen it at 200 whp is at 10 psi with upgrades.

You should be able to make 200whp at 9psi with the fuel leaned out a bit, with Joe's FPR for example. But that's holding 9psi, so it may spike 10psi.

I've been running 12-13psi for about 4000 miles now without any problems (knock on wood). I have colder plugs, we have 93octance gas in IL, and I have the fuel cut defender, also non-flashed. I found a way to be bumping the octane a little higher so I'll probably start doing that just as a precaution, but I would say for most people 9-10psi on a completely stock MSP is fine but you might hit the fuel cut come colder weather or even at night.

Looks right. 9.5psi with intake and FMIC. A FMIC will not give much more power on a dyno (unless it's in a wind tunnel). But the numbers will be more consistant. If that car had Joe's FPR it would make even more than 201whp.

if you read that, stock they got 144 whp, modded he was getting 180 WHP at STOCK boost...then got 201whp at 10psi...like insidious said though if you get a fpr and lean it out a bit you will see bigger numbers..

wait so...say a stock unflashed car is boosting at 8 - 9 psi with no other upgrades...how much to the wheels should s/he be getting?
one more thing... can this be driven safetly daily?? i.e. both local and freeway driving

next time im in texas visiting family i'll give you a buzz ;).. i happen to know first hand what 15 psi daily running through all 5 gears pedal to the metal will do... so i just really wanna see this.
ps. i am in no way calling you a liar... becuz i did it.. and it is possible. but how long ur car will last is very questionable.
oh also... dont ya love how you can lose traction at the top of first.. all the way through second and chirp third sometime break all the way loose in third ? hehe.

8-9 is pussy... trust me there is a noticable different between 9 and 12 psi... completely noticable... ya get a jolt when it goes from 9-12 its safe to run 12 daily... if ya have the fuel cut defenser... i would however suggest colder plugs.. i did it for 4 months no problems.. so i cranked it up some more.. i was running 15 psi to nopi... no problems ran it that way about a month.. at nopi i cranked it even more.. so lets say i was around 16-17 when the knocking started. and right now i run 10 psi with it knocking... altho i have only drivin it twice.. its going in the shop my next day off..

oh i dont know what im talking about ahrm... okay... i maybe a complete moron when it comes to cars.. but i was looking at the boostguage... i know what i saw... i know that the car can handle 12 psi for 4 months without a single problem i know it can hold 15 psi for 1 month without a problem... i know the can handle 15 -17 for one night without a problem... this is at the least... if i had been more cautious im sure my car wouldn't be in the shape its in... without people like me and discreet and linux you wouldn't know the outward stretch of the car... cuz lets face it... some people are just to pussy to push it.. or not financially stable enuf to try... and i understand that.. hell im not evne financially stable enuf to support my habit but i dayum sure will try. i dont mind taking a hit for the team if i know in the end it'll be what keeps it from happening to someone else..

Well I hit as high 14 during the summer with no cut but now the cut hits hard at 10-12 depending on ambient air temp.
I never ran it for very long 12 was my "pain" limit it was just a few pull test while setting the boost.

same here - highest I've spiked now is about 12.4 & I hit the cut several times last night when the temp was in the mid 40's or so. Usually it peaks around 11 or so and that very rarely brings on the cut.

Yep, and little Joey P took his to 21 PSI on the dyno with 116 octane. I have 23000 miles now almost all at 12 PSI pre Flash and Post Flash.

LOL, you make it sounds like SRT4s are hard to beat. You don't need to run 21psi. Half that will be fine.
By the way, Joe made 263whp. It spiked to 21psi and fell to 17psi by redline I believe.
