i was driving by a mazda dealer and decided to stop by to test drive an rx8.there was a blue msp in the showroom that i fell in love with instantly.i went home and did a little research and was disapointed with its 1/4 mile time.its not that its slow its just that i was hopeing it was quicker than the srt4. could someone please help me find some aftermarket parts to improve its 1/4 time without almost redoing the whole engine,i really really want this car.(mp3blue)

dont buy this car if you're looking for something quicker than the SRT-4. It aint happening. Well, it could but you'd be spending a big bank roll for it. If you want the car, buy it and enjoy it, but don't pay $16K for a car and expect it to excell in every catagory and remain problem free.

if u want a 1/4 mile car..this is not the one...unless you want to splash a lot of cash on it...

just like they said above.. it's gonna take the cash to beat the srt-4.. but as far as value and definitely in the handling it is worth it.. it outhandles almost all cars on the road.

You can't expect a 170/160 2.0L turbo to be faster than a 230/250 2.4L turbo. If you care more about speed, I'd suggest getting the SRT-4...if you want looks & handling to go with it, then get the MSP. It's true that there are SRT-4 owners running 2 seconds faster than me in the 1/4 stock for stock, but with just boost controller & exhaust, our cars are capable of running around 14.1!

blah, looks are negligable. I love my P5, but the 03 MSP is gorgeous....the 03.5 is a little off, more rice-tuner than the upscale look of the P5 or 03MSP. just my $.02

SRT-4 has rear manual windows that's enough to make me reconsider.

I bought the MSP because it was a) a lot cheaper
b) Mazda is a more reputable company then Dodge (this is just my opinion)
c) The car looks a lot better
d) the handling is INSANE
e) the Neon isn't as fast as some of my older cars, and it's still not faster then a F-body. At least I can feel confident that the MSP will outhandle 99.9% of cars on the road.
f) The stereo and interior of the MSP are nice
g) Again the price (paid $15,900)
h) Their paint colors are awesome. My black has one of the coolest metallics I've ever seen on a black car.
i) Got a 50K bumper to bumper warranty. Dodge only gives 36k, but they give a 70k on powertrain.

It's obvious what I think.

But, the srt4 is cheaper then the speed here in Canada. There's a blue srt4 here for 26950. My speed was 27600 + 950 frieght. That is not what I paid, but that is the listed prices.

I do not know what frieght is on the neon.

I would never buy a neon unless it was a 2nd car and just a weekend toy. I need something reliable every single day, and have too many friends with neons that I have to give rides to because their cars are all f'd up.

If you get the MSP you will want to make it go faster and you will be disappointed at how much it will cost to make it even compete with the SRT-4 in straight line performance. I say go with the SRT-4.

I got mine on halloween and i love it and have read on how to modify it. You need to think about what you want speed? or a more overall package thats an msp

Maybe you should get an MSP and then invite them to an autox and see how great they are. Seriously, if you think the SRT-4 is ugly, don't get one just so you can hang with these guys who really don't matter. There's always gonna be someone faster. If you get a 12 second car there's going to be some guy running 11's and you'd be saying that you want to give him a run for his money. In the world of 4 cylinder turbo performance the SRT-4's will still get owned by any number of DSM's out there, and there's always the V8 guys around to make the SRT-4 owners feel pretty small too.

Don't buy a car to show someone else up, or give them a run for their money. Buy the car that you're going to like. Which car would you enjoy riding in the most? You have to consider the entire driving experience, not just mashing the gas from a stoplight. You can cruise the strip in an MSP and have a much better sound system to bump, you can head up to the mountains and have a much better time with the awesome handling. Or you could drive around an ugly car and go fast from a stoplight.

Well, I hadn't mentioned the STi or the EVO because that's a different price bracket, by quite a bit. I don't like the look of the STi either (had a WRX wagon and a 2.5RS coupe), EVO looks alright, but it's a lot of money for a DSM in a more updated form.

I don't even have an MSP yet, so I can't sing it's praises entirely, I can only speak from what I've picked up here and from countless reviews and trips to the dealerships. I think a lot of people here have seriously considered the SRT-4, but have picked the MSP because it's more of the "total package" as some others have mentioned, and it can be had for at least $3k less than an SRT-4.

I think you'll still love the MSP if you decide to buy one. I've considered everything up to about the price of an STI, and in the end I'll spend about half of what an STI would cost me, and probably enjoy it just as much.
