HI,
I just got a new 2003.7 laser blue msp this saturday and drove about 88 miles so far. Just wondering if I experience the clunk or not today. WHen I was coming home and making a right turn into the drive way, I heard a sound coming from the rear right side of the car. Also later when I came to a stop, I heard the same sound. Is it a clunk? I thought clunks only happen when you hit a bump or something.
Another question..do I need to fix the clunk immediately or can it wait until the first oil change?
Thanks

Probably is clunk. It doesn't take much to hear it. I heard it coming to stops and making corners. I would get it fixed asap. The longer you wait the more damage you are doing.
Edit: Welcome to the boards

I went about 13,000 miles on my original bushings, clunking from day 1, and the only damage was to the sway bar where the bushing mounts were grinding away at it.
I would say welcome, but I just noticed that you have been registered since DEC 2002. Enjoy your new car!!!:)

Yeah, fixing it soon would definatly be a good idea. I had a clunk from my rear swaybar on my old car and the bolt that the the swaybar went around got so worn down that when I went to take it off it twisted apart.
You talking about the driveway reminded me that when I pull into my driveway, the suspension is so stiff that the rear right tire(if I'm taking a right into my driveway) comes off the ground, I thought that was pretty cool...shows how tight our suspension is(not that you couldn't tell by driving over bumpy roads)

you're the second member to noticed that. I was going to get a MSP back then, but went for a GTI instead. Now, I've traded the gti in for a msp because of horrible service from volkswagen (long story short...they canceled my powertrain warranty).

I actually have not noticed one of the rear tires coming off the ground but some of my passengers comment on how it felt like it was slipping the rear tire.
