Royal Purple VS Mobil 1 Oil

Okay heres the deal, I have read great reviews about both motor oils, I have been currently using Mobil 1 15-50 Oil, I am thinking about switching to Royal Purple 20-50 Oil, any suggetsions, concerns, opions. Please reply... WHICH IS BETTER FOR OUR ENGINES???

Isn't 20-50 too heavy? Royal Purple is better than Mobil-1 though. So is Redline... but Mobil-1 is still really good. I don't know much more than that lol

too heavy an oil... your engine will suffer at start up... get 0W-10W, in a synthetic if you want your engine to last forever.

There's a kid at my school that works at Jiffy Lube. This has nothing to do with Royal Purple, but he said that they carry 3 types of oil...Mobil, Valvoline, and one other type.

Anyway, he said that the same truck fills Valvoline and the other with the same oil, and that Mobil has seperate/different oil.

He said that most oils are the same exact thing except for Mobil, I don't know how much I believe this, but I do know that I am going to go with Mobil.

Royal Purple is said to have a %10 lower co-efficient drag because it has this thing called synecal. Supposed to give u about 5-10hp, never used it but Miata owners say there engines rev smoother and quieter with the switch. o 20w-50 is way to heavy, eats horses and gas mileage

Man, I am SO sick of people saying this! The only time when this would be BAD is if it was too cold out.

Everyone says you'll get worse fuel economy and power. Maybe so, but your looking at stastically insignifigant number here. Maybe a horsepower, maybe a half mile per gallon...if that. I've tried this in my RX7's and saw absolutly no difference in fuel economy.

I wouldn't worry about the fuel economy aspect of it. before oil gets heated up it is pretty thick, more so with heavier oils. now everyone knows that a lot of wear takes place at startup because most of the oil is in the pan, which oil will get to the parts sooner? my money is on the 0W. how about you guys?

the reason for heavier oils is longevity, and high heat applications, like diesel engines, and race cars that have electric wet sumps anyways

If you go with RP, be sure to get the "Racing 21" oil. I recently had to buy the regular RP synthetic after using the Racing 21 before that and the performance DID go down.

There's something in the Racing 21 that this car loves.

20w50 is waaay to heavy, get 5w30, especially for winter, when i put mobil1 5w30 in my car it started faster and smoother and revs more smoothly

I don't think either one is worse or bad or would make your car last longer in anyway...but with my previous audi, after I switched to Royal Purple I never went back to Mobil 1...it made the car smoother and rev quicker somewhat...... its the shit.... and hey its purple!! just my 2-cents

I'm using Mobil1 Synthetic 5w30. Much better starts, shifts, and revs than with the standard oil that it came with. Looking in to RP for next oil change.
