i recommend though to get T-bolt clamps as well if you get hardpipes

you should be able to find a local shop for less than 400 if you shop around, but i doubt their quality will match spool's. their welds are VERY nicely done

I'm sure if you call up essential speed they will sell you just the pipes or a pipe BOV combo

ask some performance shops that are around your area. a friend of mine made me aluminum hard pipe kit and welded my flange for my hks ss blow off valve for $300.

Cheap Pipes,
Go to MIDAS and have them make some bends. I'm Just Joking.
Vibrant Performance makes Mandrel Bent Aluminum Pipes. They are only $20.00 each and come in 2" and 2.5" Sizes in 90 and 45 Deg. They can be welded and made to your specs because it's you making them.
Inexpensive polished hard pipes that can take the heat before the Intercooler and the pressure too.

Saw the Dumbiest thing ever on a Speed the other day! A guy who bought a speed had went to a performance place near by and they said hey we can make you hardpipes for your car.. the guy said how much and they said 200 well when the guy got his car back all they did was take a trampoline pipe and bend it to fit over the turbo end and the intercooler end and then they cut hole in pipe and made a shitly done flanges for it.. and shoved his turboxs type H on it... there were horrible welds on the flange they made i wouldnt go for that anyday! I have recently purchased spool's hardpipes and a greddy BOV and well let me say they are bad ass.. oh and does any one know how to recirculate it when i have a injen cai and a set of spool hardpipes it seems no way to recirculate

mazdaspeedturbo: you need to buy the recirc fitting for it. I'll find the link and post it. it's like $15 at most.

first off that rev kit is just one pipe. second... the spool pipes are stainless steel, even tho they don't look like it in the pic, i emailed him and asked.

o i know its one pipe. they acually have made all of them and i have not bought them yet. btw it is also stainless steel and polished to a mirror finish. i believe the 2 intercooler pipes and intake pipe are going to be sold as a set for $300. i am putting together a group by in the next month when i get back from a trip out of state.

you should have them put the bov flange in a more ideal position, i.e. on the pipe that you haven't bought yet
turbospeed
10-31-2003, 12:41 PM
i had them put it where it is because i knew i wasnt going to get the reat of the pipes for some time. and the car runs better with the bov back into the mas. besides its not easy mounting a bov flange on a plastic pipe.
when i am ready i will put the bov on the pipe going to the tb and by then i will also have a fmic.
btw i had the car dynoed last week.
it put down 211 hp to the wheels. i forget the torque but it was also around 200 ftlbs.

cool, i was just sayin for the production version for the group buy you may be organizing they should do it that way
turbospeed
10-31-2003, 01:12 PM
yea it def is. the intake is not that loops ass plastic one anymore so it works out better on the tb pipe. if anyone is interested i will have the final price sometime soon. just email me so i get you down as someone interested.

I just purchased my HKS SSQV blow-off valve, so now I need a set of hardpipes to mount it to. If I could get a set for $175, I would be all set. Please let me know if this is still possible. I would really appreciate it, I need to save every dime these days! Thanks again!

That was $175 for that single pipe, not a full set of hardpipes.

Yeah, I understand, that is fine. I priced out a set of hardpipes from a few local shops. Without even getting a mirror finish, but having good silicon hoses with T-Bolt clamps, I was looking in the neighborhood of $520 and up. That is outrageous. TurboHoses.com has them for $395, and they are sweet. They even have hump hoses, which I like. I like the hump concept. (wink) I really only need the pipe coming from the throttle body though. I want to mount the HKS SSQV BOV there, just out from the throttle body, so it works most effeciently. If there is going to be a group buy for $300 for both pipes with an HKS flange, I will be all about that! Just let me know if it will be a sure thing. I waited for those other people who wanted to make a set, and they never produced them. If it doesn't go through, I will just go for the one pipe. Please let me know. Thanks!

Custom = $$$$
I don't think that the price you posted is really that bad. A bolt on kit with a FMIC might be cheaper!!

Had a question about the "hump-hose?" on the turbo side. The stock setup has a heat shield, is there a problem with that hose melting, getting too hot? Also, does spool have a set of hardpipes, that allow for the stock bpv setup? I just bought a forge bpv, and I don't feel like selling and then getting a bov.
Thanks,

I can get you a set for 450, with CAI, filter, and all mounting stuff.
You can also send in a BOV and have it mounted.

Thanks, yeah the spool does allow for stock BPV. People would have had to order to weld it on....But i got a flange that connects to the Greddy BOV flange that came on the pipe and allows you to run the stock bpv.

So you can run the stock BPV off of the Greddy flange?
I need to know ASAP as I have a pending buy of some Spool pipes ans want to use the stock BPV only.
Thanks

I already have an Injen CAI. I would like to just keep this, since it is not a cheap intake. It is a good one though, and I have an AEM filter on it, and I am happy with that setup. I would like to just add a set of hard pipes that fit around this CAI. I would like to have my BOV mounted in it though. I could send a flange, or just purchase it from the company who makes the hard pipes. What do you think? Is this feasible? What would be price be with the flange, but without the CAI? Thanks!
