My car is sitting there at AEM right now. They fit a prototype on some one elses 03.5, they are making sure that it will fit on the 03 as well. Diff front bumpers and all. They look like they will be the same. For the past week they have been testing the prtotype on my car, and finr tuning it for more power. I cant wait till it is done. AEM has always been the best intake in my mind. They are looking at production of them in about 4 weeks is my understanding. I will talk to him today and get a more clear answer.

it will be both, just like the K&N

the kit will include a CAI and a short ram. for short ram application u'll just have to remove the piece of the intake that goes to the wheel well.

Hopefully when this gets finished, they will offer us a chance to do a group buy. After all, we probably have the largest group of MSP's anywhere, so they could knock out a big first order. I say $200-$225 MAX. Well, that would be competitive with the Injen anyways...

I hope they would be around 200-25 range. I remember when they came out for my Eclipse they were 325 dollars for the CAI and 250 for the sri. AEM is always a little pricey.

I have spoken to Robert over there a few times. I met him when I had problems with an intake on my other car. I have stayed in contact with them since I bought my MSP, and he promises me they are in the process of developing an intake. He says they have a ton of new cars to produce intakes for right now, but they haven't forgotten about us. It is probably time to bug him again, I will call him Monday. We should all call over there and bug AEM, so they know there is a lot of demand, and we get working more on OUR intake setup. They are the best, they test different lengths and diameters to make sure they get the most gains from the intake. The only intake better is Greddy, and they don't really make kits for our car, you just use someone else's piping, or get custom pipes. Call AEM, or better yet, email Robert Green:
rgreen@aempower.com !

Dude, what did you do? If you got the CIA at your house, I would probably like, hide or something, man. I don't think I would be messing around on the internet if the CIA was at my house, man.

Enough joking, Robert confirmed the development of a CAI was completed a few weeks ago, as well as hard pipes. They won't be producing a SRI because they didn't find any gain, since the radiator fan blows hot air into it. They actually lost 2 HP in most dyno runs with most SRI setups. The CAI will be out as soon as the pricing and production BS has been setup. I hope the first of the year will we start to see them at certain shops. I will check with Robert then. By that time, hopefully I have some of this crap sold from my other car, so I can afford the overpriced, but very effective AEM CAI. If anyone hears anything before me, let us all know!!
Thanks!

If its a SRI/CAI in one then $200-225 is an amazing deal. The K&N Typhoon is like $600. I never understood why K&N charged so much for a SRI/CAI intake...isn't it just a CAI thats hacked in half? AEM got my attention...I wanted a SRI and was expecting to pay $200-$250. I don't want to start a flame war but they beter not be making only CAI...SRI all the way...our cars are turboed...its all about flow not temp. Well after doing some research thats what I came up with...not to dis CAI owners....sorry.

Where are you AEM...so many un answered questions...

The part # is out in their new 2004 catalog. CAI 21-486
SRI 22-486.

Where did you find it though? Did you pay the rediculous $5 for the catalog just to find the part#? Did anyone find anyplace to order it yet? I can't seem to find it anywhere?
Thanks!

Nah, I'm a dealer for a lot of product lines so I get the new catalogs free. I have the new 2004 AEM catalog sitting here. You can't order it since it hasn't been released to distributors or dealers yet.

Spicy1390
01-05-2004, 12:31 AM
I should be one of the first people to find out when it is going to be released. (They used my car) It just takes a little time to build them for distribution. We rather wait now, or spend your money and still wait.. Just be patent.

AEM = K&N in their R&D.

most likely they did a prototype intake and put it on hold, while they work on 350Z, RX-8, or Mazda 6 prototyping.

it's not profitable for them to put a lot of time in development of a system that will only sell about 4000 units. they work on the CAI for MSP during their free hours.

same thing happened when i prototyped for K&N.
prototype date May 5.
release of the final version September 10.

this is because they had to push Mazda 6 and RX-8 CAI's before MSP's.
