Hey guys well time to do some modding to the msp. I've done searches and thought I'd share what I was planning on doing and any opinions on whether to wait on something get something instead etc etc etc. Alright here's what I was planning on getting:

JoeP MBC - Boosting hopefully at 9psi
JoeP FCD
Hard piping from Ion performance
Boost gauge (haven't looked for one yet but that will go with rest)

That's pretty much it for now. I was thinking about the FPR but I've had my msp flashed so since everyone is unsure about this I'll leave it alone unless anyone has any other thoughts. I also wanted to get a CAI but was unsure who to go with I was choosing between Ion's or the Injen. Any preferences would help on that (I'll be searching on the two while hopefully everyone replies.)

mod list looks good. are you going to keep the stock intercooler and just get hard piping or are you going full fmic?

and get the injen :) i'm really happy with mine (2thumbs)

oh yeah, probably not the best idea to run a flashed msp with the fpr. so you won't need that.

find a good local shop that can do mandrel bends and you can probably get an intake and hard pipes for cheaper :)

Well eventually I'll go full fmic but for now I just wanted to keep the stock intercooler. Maybe after a year of paying off I'll do it :) Thanks for the feedback btw guys.

hahahaha, good deal. the stock ic will be find for now. until you start making mad power, there's no need to upgrade the ic.

Hey striker just a question just a question haven't searched yet but I was also curious on a bov, would there be any stalling problems with hard piping? with the hks or the greddy type s?

yes, you'll stand a chance of stalling. doesn't matter if it's hardpipes or not. both the hks and greddy can cause you to stall. recirculate and you won't have a problem. or you could try one of those gfb 50/50 bovs that recirculates half and vents half or any fraction you desire. www.blowoffvalves.com does have two sounds recordings of a gfb bov. i haven't watched either vid yet so i don't know how they sound or which ones they are.

Eh I don't really care about the sound too much, rather keep the car from stalling. Can I recirculate either of the two? I heard the greddy can right?

yep, get the typeS and recirc. it sounds nice :)

yes, both can be recirculated. just know that the hks will no longer give the distinct whistle if you recirculate it. i posted a link a while back to a site that had recordings of the hks recirculated on an evo.

chrisjw85 - save your money and go with something like a TXS RBV-25. It'll work with the stock hoses etc. Or if you wanna save more money and get similar performance, get a Audi or Porsche Bosch BPV

So striker does that mean that if I got the hks and wanted to eventually vent it after making it recirculate then it wouldn't whistle anymore? Does the same apply to the greddy? Last questions I swear :)

no, you can make it whistle again :) but first, you should know how the hks is designed. to install hks's recirculation fitting, you have to remove the fin insert. the insert is what creates that high pitched whistle. in fact, hks sells a purple and a gold replacement inserts, purple is just for looks, gold actually lowers the pitch. but without it, you just a very flat sounding flash of air. i think the website was www.collectracecars.com. the guy has a very detailed writeup of the install and sound recordings of well....lots of pictures too. but if you decide to vent later on, just remove the recirculation fitting and pop the insert back in and you're good to go.

the greddy should give the same sound recirculated or not since the sound output doesn't depend on some kind of removable insert like the hks does. greddy does sell a recirculation fitting for the type s.

Great thanks for the help! :D
