Is a B.O.V. safe to add to the MSP

Hey guys,
I did a search for this and could not find the answer to my question.

Can the MAZDASPEED except a Blow off valve fine?
The reason why I ask, is because I went to a local tune shop in FL
called "Speed and Truck World" and the rep there said a B.O.V. would kill my engine, and that I needed to add a Bypass valve instead of a B.O.V.

was the guy full of shit , or was he right???????????

It won't kill the engine. But it will probably stall it if you don't recirculate...and if you stall while moving, you lose power steering and braking. Not a good thing.

A blowoff valve can be done, but even then, it might not sound like you want.

Why do you want to change the stock bypass valve anyway? It works fine...changing to a different BPV or a BOV won't help you performance any.

If all you want is the sound, than it's an expensive mod for just a sound. I've found that if you are able to shift fast enough, the stock BPV sounds like a BOV...you just have to finish shifting before the valve starts fluttering. It takes practice.

yeah i noticed that sound, i really dig it!
is that a bypass valve? if i replace it with an aftermarket bypass valve, will it make a louder sound and increase stability or performance???

man it's all about the sound!!! hell that's half the reason i'm planning on getting one. but i am gonna recirculate it.

i doubt the sound will get louder if you replace the stock one with an aftermarket one cause the stock airbox will still be there and that really muffles the sound. however, put an open air filter on there and you got one really loud bpv :D increase performance, not really, unless your stock one is leaking (i think mine is). stability, i'm not exactly sure what you're referring to.

heya strike, where u gettin the recirculation fitting for ur blitz? it looks like imma go with the bov set up as u are (blitz sounds more dope anyways).

a wiseman once said(igdrasil): recirculation is not an option, test it out without reciculation, might not stall on you...
