today I was driving and was driving a little hard got over 100, in 5th gear. I smelt some burning but did not think much of it. The at my friends house someone who was behind me told my car smelt like something was burning. So on my way back i got the smell again for a little while. But could not find any leaks. It smelt like oil burning. Then someone else told me it could be the clutch burning but I thought burnt clutch smelt different. I also cant check my oil at my house because there is no level ground. Any ideas?

i HOPE you let the car idle before u shut off after going over 100!! GET A TURBO TIMER!

oh i definitely let my car idle. I do not want a turbo timer, because i just sit in my car and listen to music.

i wouldnt be suprised if that happened. just breaking it in. worry if it comes back 5 minutes after u start it back up after a night of sitting.

I've dealt with a lot of complaints of coolant burning smell,
you sure it's not a coolant smell?

could be coolant getting on the exhaust mani cover ? or other engine parts. i know the MSP is notorious for leaking coolant.

sound like "the leak" to me... do a search on "coolant leak" or "the leak", there is a lot of threads it

sometimes my car smells like that though too, i dont think its just a MSP thing..oh wait..thats right..my car caught on fire because my autoloc 12v flamethrowing exhaust.(ricer)

seriously though, sometimes my car does that too..especially when I first got it. I think its the radiator when it first breaks in.. I wouldn't really sweat it. but i would suggest getting a turbo timer and a remote starter for those winter mornings..

According to my dealer, all cars come from the factory with a light coating of machine oil on the surface of the engine. This is supposed to burn off and is normal. I don't think you should still smell it at 1500 miles though.
