Tranny Issue

I have a 00 ES with around 54000 miles on it. Today the Auto Tranny would not shift outta 2nd it would hit around 40 MPH and the RPMs would go towards redline while driving. then it started to act fine again ... and then once again the tranny would race and would not shift. and sometimes if it did shift the tranny would jolt. i do have a grinding noise when i accelerate. but some ppl said it might be the heat shield. can the tranny grind like that. jsut wondering. and the grinding happens at 0-45 MPH. NEED HELP PLZ!!!!!!!!!!!.

damn i know what ur going through i had that problem about one year ago , but mine just would go through 1st and 2nd gear i guess like your. i took it to the dealer and they could care of it. "yeah mazda auto tranny really suck iv gone through two of them already and about to take it back to let them check it out again" luckly my dealer has been good about changing my tranny.

one dealership at school wants 2500$ to fix it. i call the dealer i bought my car from and they said they will slip it under my warranty even tho that is way long gone.
