as I was passing some slow ass cars today in the way to work, I turned the O/D off, and floored it. The tranny went into second gear around 60mph and broke the tires loose. I have never seen this done, I was is such dismay, I needed to control the torque steer, and saw plenty of tire smoke next to me. I said, holy shit, what the fcuk, I have never experienced something like this, not even in my Thunderbird SC.

:D

Well..I think..that the od off..permits the car to rev higher..which in turn..is like downshifting..in a manual!

my experience with OD is just that. it basically makes the trans shift way early.

HAHAHAHAHAHAA way to go Pirana!!!! You smoked your tires doing 60! Thats even more inspiration for my next project being the Hiboost kit.. and I have a manual... so even more fun!!

I agree w/ the man..our auto tranny's are not really good when it comes to lots of tq from turbo setups!

HP is fine..but tq..is the killer!

yeah, good point - watch the tranny

I'm stock now, and I was boosting 8psi.

My tranny now slips a bit, not bad - but I notice it, and it's majorly annoying.

Are you gonna do a swap piranna to a mtx?

That could solve som of th problems!

Otherwise..Level 10!

manual tranny swap = too much money
level 10 = hype

UPGRADE the torque converter, install a standalone ECU to control the tranny to allow firmer engagements and increased hydraulic pressure to hold the clutches... and install a big ass oil cooler!

keep the 5, save some money, and drive that tranny til its fucked. then hook up a manual with strong bits and pieces

I think pirana has a good idea..but that will cost as much as if here were to put in a manual tranny..or possibly as much as the level 10 tranny!

is that what your idea was in the other thread, buy a new protege es?

Pirana

Actually I wont spend a single dollar. Trade in (stock form), will cost me a lot time and my own labor, the ES are on sale with 4,000 off MSRP. And credit union offering 3.48% loan, lower my payments by $100.00 and will not spend money on tranny. Maybe an LSD later on.

then have fun with buying a warehouse of stock auto trannies

You prolly blew your tranny already. With that type of power, no stock protege auto is safe.

have not had any problems yet. still running extremely strong. Its just I want more. Hey I can prove it tonight, bring any MSP :D

Also Mattew you are 99% correct, ofcourse it will be a standard, that is why I said I will add an LSD later.

nice...and you already have the turbo and all that stuff to transfer over. oh, ive been meaning to ask you, what is the story with the guages in the center console? i like that idea, and feel i could see them from there. how much were they, where did you get them, and all that.

ooh seriously get white, and do the MP3 body conversion... that would be pretty damn original and with a little carbon fiber thrown in it would be a quick ass, good looking machine.

Pirana

Matthew

is this something youre tossing around, or something youre gonna do soon?

Pirana

Well, I will decide after this show, maybe get an ES stick shift, and make it into a turbo beast sleeper, hehehe. It will depend on the prices of the ES. I think the Man is checking on a blue ES on Garland, TX and then on some others on McKinney, TX for a good deal. I love my P5, but the standard tranny is too expensive and labor consuming task.
