I never got the heated seat option when i bought the car and was wondering if there are after market kits that can be installed in our cars. Has anyone tried this with any luck? The reason i ask is because the dealer wants lots o cash it install them now.

You menitoned a dealer - are heated seats an OEM option? Or is this just a Canadian thing?
Just curious - don't really need them in SC.

I put a set of Jacobs Electronics seat heaters in my wife's ZX3. They were around $240.00 US a set and the install was easy with the instructions they sent. If you decide to go this route, I have the tools (hog rings and hog ring pliers) to reinstall the seat covers if you need them. The seats will be warm and toasty with these heaters!

no its not a dealer option, and they do ask for quite a bit to have them installed.....but keep in mind that if you're financing that you could have it added in to your vehicles cost and pay monthly on the seats.......if not, you could try some of these sites...

some of those sites you will have to follow another link....never mind the gm logos........i think they should be pretty much universal applications

I know my dealership sends them to an aftermarket place. 2 front seats $600 for the pair, installed.

i would love heated seats, but for that much money, I could buy myself an intake and bov or something. I always think performance(cause this car needs some more). I just let the car warm up a bit. That's enough for me.

Friction...yes some manufacturers do offer cloth heated seats -- the current Focus has then as part of a package. Usually you find them with leather seats because it's considered a "luxury" item.
I have the leather seats, and yes they are a little chilly on the behind when I first get in, but they warm up to body temperature quick enough that I don't miss the heaters.
Turbo...that works, but then you end up with the "phantom fart" smell a few months later.

OK, thanks. I think that is why I assumed they were only offered on leather. Surprised the Focus offers them though.

Heated seats are nice if they come with the car but they wouldnt really be worth the trouble to install aftermarket, even though they would be great in this cold Candian winter.

One of the reasons I was looking at a Focus ZX5 was because of the "Weather Package" (ie. heated seats & mirrors). Two things anyone in a cold environment would love to have. But it's not a make or break thing for me -- plus the dealers had shit on the lot. So a P5 it was...I was leaning toward the P5 from the get-go, but was sold after the test drive.
Acceleration is nice, but handling is where it's at!!!
