posted in forced induction tech about 5 or 6 hours ago and I've only got one reply, so I'll try here. Just installed my autometer gauge in the steering column area and all is good so for except for a couple things. The vac tubing just doesn't feel secure into the back of the gauge and I feel like I'm missing something. Got about 6 pounds of boost just after installing earlier today, but that was with my hand pushing the line into the back of the gauge. If I leave it alone I just get constant readings of a little over 5 pounds in second and third. My first install of a boost gauge. Was I supposed to use some sealer or teflon tape around the final nut and ferrule to insure no seapage.
Sorry if I sound like a noob. Thanks!!!

you should use teflon around all threaded brass pieces that go together, and you shouldn't use the final nut/ferrule or nylon hose. you should replace it all with rubber vac hose, the nylon can become brittle over time and is very easy to crack. but if you do use the nylon, it should be tight with the nut/ferrule.

thanks for the reply. So how bout my boost pressure? does a little over five sound acceptable. I've heard of nubers in the fives all the way in to the sevens stock.

Well I'm assuming you have not messed with the boost level. I am also assuming your car is stock motor wise.

I was told stock boost was 5.5psi. Autometer gauges are not the most accurate gauge out there. So anywhere in that range is going to be fine.

You should have it sealed before you test what you are acutually running though.

Did you get the vac hose with the kit? And is this a mechanical gauge, or electrical?

Autometer gauges come with nylon line. And the brass fittings. All you need when buying one is thread tape.

Its a mech gauge. Stock boost also w/ no controller.
