Ok, I've had the gauges for a while(Autometer Boost/Vac and Oil PSI Electonic(both)) and just got the mounting pod(finally). So I put the Gauges in the POD and set it on the pillar. WOW, it looks very clean!!! They're beautiful. I will be taking pics all throguh Installation, and hopefully posting the pics. No definate date on the INstall, cause I still have a couple of fittings to order. I think that Mazda should have included a boost gauge for us, considering we do have a Turbo in our Speed. Hey, maybe we can see about getting them to pay us for them...Yeah right!!!! They'd never buy that. Found out tthe other day, that my dealer is willing to sell me a boost controller for my MSP, didn't think they would with allof their Warrenty crap. Well, I'll probably post the pics on here, look for pics before the install soon!!!

You get the Ultra Lite Pro Comps? (silver face). I have those in my RX-7 to match the exterior and the aftermarket gauge faces I put in (orange lines/numbers is kinda outdatted :)) It looked really clean and classy having the various gauges match.
Yes, Mazda should have done a lot of things to the Protege when they turbo'ed it. More things than just slap a turbo kit on. Oh well. I complained about stuff like that to one of the designers (well, he was actually on the business side of the Mazdaspeed project) of it when I met him in person. :)
Looked for a pic, couldn't find one with the 3 Autometer gauges.
Post your pics though!... I want to see it done in an MSP. I'm going to be doing the same w/ the pillar and all in my car. :thumbs-up:
please please please ! post pictures ! i'm planning to get the dual pod full pillar and just a boost gauge for now...needa c how it's done !

Can do, Mine isn't the full pillar though(f**k), but it still looks pretty good. I'm currently contemplating painting it to match, but who knows.

I have not seen the pillars in person yet, mine comes in next week. What color are they?

They come black. But I'm sure Mazda will give you the clour code to paint it, if not, it's on this site somewhere, I know that for a fact. The black is almost the same as the dash, if not exactly the same. Doesn't look bad in nlack, so I probably won't go through the trouble of painting, as I've heard it chips off due to the heat of sitting in the sun.

VegasMSP, that is the cleanest pillar pod with colour to match i've seen. It's soo clean, you can lie to non car enthusiat that it's comes stock and they would believe you.
mazdaspeedpower, i can't wait for you to post up your step by step installation, you might just be able to save me a few bucks to pay someone to install mine, even though i don't even have my pod or guage yet. But i'm in the market for one...and i need one real soon.
The black pod on grey stock pillar isn't as bad you you might think. It actually contrast the dash black quite well. It sounds terrible to think that this black pod will stick out, but honestly, it's not awful. The silver rings from the guage will set it off nicely.
Where did you get your guage and pod from? where's the cheapest place you've found?

The grey plastic color? If it matches the dash or not, it still doesn't match the other pillars. That should be what one would want to match to.
VegasMSP, that looks really good!
wow those installs and gauges look pretty nice...
blthlt- what's the gauge on the bottom for ?

Apexi is correct. It's a cyberdyne digital volt-meter. I had it in another setup and just using it til i get the EGT installed.

I will do the best I can on Step by Step, but I'm not the best at taking pics. I'm still buying parts for the setup, as It looks like I'll now need some vac hose for the Turbo Gauge. I just bought mine from Partsource, they ordered it all for me. I payed about $850cdn for it all.

Thanks for the responses all!
I got my full pillar pod and gauges from www.jegs.com. It was around $160 total. The pod comes in black. I just went down to a paint shop and tried to match the pillar as close as I can, but it's not exact. It looks close enough to me :D

Autometer 3-pod. . .also purchased from jegs
Greddy, boost, egt, and fuel.
I want to find a pillar mount that puts the gauge further away, down near the dash... or I'm going to find a salvage yard OE cluster surround and dremel the gauges into the corners... while all the above look great, I want something more stealthy!
