Thought I would give everyone an update on the development. Material is ordered. I am doing two prototype sets. They will be similar. One goes on my car, hopefully before the next SCCA event and , I am pleased to announce I will offer the second prototype to a worthy sole for testing and feedback. Details later on this.
The direction I am going for these two is as follows, material is chrome moly tubing and sheet, initial design will utilize an Energy Suspension bushing and bracket. Billet alum. bushing brkt's will be offered at additional cost. Before the eyebrows raise, hear me out. A moly impregnated poly bushing will work for the stock bar. The associated "squeeking" from poly is addressed in two ways. First, the paint is removed from the bar (fine emery cloth) and a special paste is sparingly applied. Think about tennis shoes on a basket ball court. Removal of paint is important.
Simultaneously, I am doing a hollow three piece bar, which will use a relativly thin wall self lubricating bushing.
As with all projects like this, costs have to be considered. My primary design intent is to provide a Klunk fix which will enhance the function of the stock bar and be affordable.
For us race guys, there is a bit more latitude, you will not be dissapointed. I will post a new topic as updates develop, but I look to have the prototypes within two weeks!
Godspeed!
