I've heard that K&N doesn't make the cone filter for the MSP anymore. Is this true? if it's not true were can i get one??

All it does is suck in hot air from the cooling fan. You're better off with one of their panel filters or a CAI.

Mine isn't originally for an MSP. Its a lot bigger than the msp one.

Everyone who has put a cone filter on the MAF has reported that it reduced performance when the fans are on.

Take the weatherstripping off and its not a problem. It wouldn't be there right now if it decreased performance. Although mine is bigger so that might be an issue.

I use the K&N RU-3580 Cone. It's been on since March. With the weather stripping removed.

I doubt that there would be a problem; but it might depend on where you live. I'm leaving mine off.

cone filters are UNIVERSAL, for the most part
You just have to make sure the inlet on the cone fits the inlet diameter on the filter itself... and If you plan on any intake piping upgrades.. why not buy the cone now and stick it on the pipes later on.

I also have no loss of performance with the fan on or off.
There isnt enough of a difference to feel..
Butt Dyno's are ALWAYS wrong..

Won't removing the weater stripping allow water into the engine bay when it rains??? is this a problem??

my glass cracked with the weatherstripping still on. the two aren't related.

I'll agree with the universal fit part. I'm using a RU-9030 from the CAI I made for my turbo Mustang. I just fab'd up my own CAI from 3" stove pipe, wrapped it up real good and stuck it in the fender well. It's a tight fit in there, but it assures it from moving around too much.

I posted a thread a few months back with pics. Wasn't too tough to make. So will call it ghetto, but I call it saving over $200!! :)

I thouth heat from the engine bay escaping onto the cold glass would make it crack.

i can see that, but by the time the heat hits the windshield, it probably isn't much hotter than if you had your heat on full blast going through the defogger. i wouldn't worry much about it, i had this done on my probe for last winter which was nasty and there were no problems.
