Shiftknob noise when shifting gears

I have just today started to experience a little noise from the shift knob area when shifting. Its hard to explain what it sounds like. Sounds like something is rubbing/squeeking a bit when I shift into any gear. Anyone experience this and was able to fix? Thanks :)

Yeah I had the same problem, I fixed it by getting a louder system now too many things vibrate in the car to focus on the shift squeeking noise, so I dont worry about it. ha, i know that didn't help but just thought I'd share, I thought about taking it to the dealership but figured nah it's not worth getting laughed at for.

Everytime I shift gears I hear a "Chuga chuga Boowing" its hard to describe but it doesn't do it if you shift like a granny, only when you shift like a mad man. (which I am)

I'm actually talking about the shift assembly itself and not the car after shifting... i.e. the engine...its just the shiftknob/boot assembly that makes that noise. :)

I got the same swueaky squeaky shift problem. The sound clearly comes from upper-portion of the shift linkage on mine. I don't know WTF caused it, just started two or three days ago, I still need to make an appointment for a flash, so I'll get thme to check it then I guess. Let me know if you figure anything out.

mine does this too it is squeaking not enough grease when they installed the shifter it will need to come out and be regreased. i will do it myself rather than the dumb ass dealer touch my vehicle.

Have any of you taken the gear shift assembly apart? Sometimes that little white ring at the bottom breaks or comes loose. Might be your problem.

Yes, I and many other have had the squeeky shifter problem. There's probably a bunch of other threads about it too. It needs grease. Mine is strange -- 1 day it will squeek, the next day it won't. Lately it hasn't been squeeking for whatever reason....
