too much power?

do you think that my car can take it if i got a 3" custom exhaust done to my car? i was planning on keeping my stock cat converter. i was thinking about having a 3" pipe just go all the way through w/my stock cat converter and also to my donwpipe...heres an illistration

3" piping isn't going to do anything if you are retaining your stock muffler, it's like hooking up two funnels at the spout, no matter how much you dump into it, it's still gotta get through the middle. I mean, it may help, but you should consider a hiflow cat too

Its gonna help only if you will get a bigger turbo. The stock piping was designed so that if you upgrate to bigger piping you will lose horse powers instead of gaining.

3 icnh piping is way too big for you. I have a turbo Protege and i have 2 1/2 inch piping. A good size for a non turbo is either 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inches. I ran 2 1/4 on my old non turbo motor and it worked fine.

You should think very carefully before getting aftermarket cat converter or testpipe. Anything besides stock CAT is illigal and cops have a right to take a mirror and take a look under the car even if you are not there. If they see something there besides ur stock CAT you WILL get a fee upto 700 bucks as a 1st offence. Hope you know what youre doing.

Hmm... Odd. From what I gathered, if your car is within 50k miles, it needs to have the factory catalysts, otherwise, after that 50k mark, you can replace it as you see fit.

My suggestion is keep the stock cat, as they flow just fine, but have the piping AROUND the cat remade at 2 1/4", kind of like Traveler did with his, and what I intend to do with mine.

Eh, my bad. Was talking about mostly the test pipes. Dont know if they make test pipes (straight through pipes) for mazdas, but know for sure that they make them for Nissans (know alot about Maximas). Well you learn something new every day.:D

i would stay 2.25" for a NA application. you wil loose low end torque the larger you go.

I believe you can also have you cat replaced if there is a problem with it or if there is damage to it. Otherwise its over 50,000 up here

Dude just a custom catback with 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 inch pipping that will sound awesome and will give you good power but if you are going turbo then I guess get the downpipe.

yes ill lose back pressure but i dont know about da power.caues i ran my auto protege at the strip da first day and ran a 17.878 "stock" then later on of that day i put my "mhp CAI,cut off my exhuast" and ran a 16.148...yes a low "16"and keeped run the hole day..
