hey guys,
i love this car! i get so many compliments from people every day.
today i installed my rev intercooler pipe with a dsm 1g bov. the pipe looks absolutely killer. it's polished stainless steel and tig welded. after installing the pipe i noticed the car pulls harder and the turbo spools faster. the 1g bov also sounds great. they could have put any bov i wanted but i went with the 1g dsm bov because it was only $75 compared to $200+. let me know what you guys think. in a few months when i get enough money i will get their upper intercooler pipe and 3" intake to match.
keep the boost up!!:D

thanks for the replys. if anyone is interested i am putting together a group buy in rhode island. 3 of my friends want one too. if we get 10 people the price comes way down. i was quoted $175 a pipe with 1g dsm bov flanges. ill have to se if other bov's apply. these guys do sick work on cars. i really want to be down with these guys so im trying to stear some buisness there way for this car market. they mostly do dsm's, supra's, rx7's, and a few high end cars like porscha. one of there 1g dsms put down 400+hp down on an all wheel dyno last week. i cant wait til i have the money to do a full front mount intercooler next and down pipe. do you guys have any suggestions on what i should do next?

(hi) Welcome to the Boards! I hope you enjoy your time here. Looks like your already off to a good start on your car. Those pipes look great!
Check out the sticky threads at the top of the Mazdaspeed section for more ideas and hit the search button. Otherwise folks here will be more then happy to help and you'll generally get a good answer to your questions.
I hope you enjoy your time here and stay awhile.
The 1g BOV is a good one. Lots of 2nd gen Eclipses use the 1g bov. I would love to hear what it sounds like.

jeez that was quick.
Hey turbospeed does the 1st gen BOV sound like a 2 stage release? My friend has a turbo Del Sol with the 1st gen BOV and it sounds alittle like that. Kind of like a Greddy Type S.

Car looks great, how many people do you have for the group order now? What would the final bill come to with 10 people? Also I live in Colorado too, so do you know how much shipping would be? Thanks for the info.

Not to sound too "ricey" but into to fast anf furious. The greddy type S sounds like that, tiiisss tsssuuu. I guess it would look like that.

Turbospeed, how much would a 1st gen bov cost to go along with the pipe? Thanks for the info.

Well I know if you look you can find DSM BOV for around 50-80 bucks. There are like 1 million DSM forums on the internet, I am sure you can find someone trying to get rid of one.

Would it be worth it buy a used one, or should I try to find a new one from a dealer? I dont know if BOV's go bad, or wear out easily, so thats why i am asking.

I have'nt heard of a DSM BOV failing at least a 1g. They are all metal and unlike the 2nd gen eclipse's are'nt weak. I believe they can hold up to 21 psi non-crushed. If you crush the top of the valve, the valve opens even more but still holds the seal.

i have a few for 75 bucks. the upper intercooler pipes are now $150. 2 group buys have gone fast, and everyone is happy so far( except one guy who was really upset that he got black couplers instead of blue, but that was taken care of). i myself am ready to upgrade the lower pipe and turbo inlet. i am working out pricing with rev next week when i am free from work and school.

it can be crushed if you plan on running more than 21 psi. which most people in a mazda speed will not be doing. the bad thing about crushing it is that if you go to far you ruin it for good. there is an even better way to do it. in my area its called the "GUS" mod. after tom gus mahone. its drilled and tapped in a specific location to hold the diaphram shut so you can reach as much as 40 psi if you need to. some people also go as far a hooking up a pressure solinoid to go from stock to the modded more psi holding bov.

last week i dynoed 211 at the wheels. 14 psi. 93 pump gas. it started to fule cut bad. i think without fuel cut my car will put down a solid 220-230 at 15 psi.
any other interest in the pipes? they have been real popular and have all came out perfect.

i am interested in the pipes, but i have a couple questions first...
1) if i wanted to get a different BOV down the road, would a flange from a dsm work on the pipes?
2) without the BOV hose returning to the intake does it stall?
3) is there anyother colors for the piping?

Isn't the BOV in the wrong location? I thought it should be close to the TB.

The blow off valve is in the right location. I had it like this on my 95 Eclipse GSX as well as when I upgraded the plastic piping to the upper intercooler recplacement pipe made out of metal and painted black. This is right. This is ideal.

also, is this BOV recirculated or is it blowing to atmosphere?

guys, if anyone is interested email me personaly, call the shop at 401 885 6860, or email the owner at mstdon@aol.com. there website is not up and running yet. and it might be some time till its done. they are crazy busy over there.
so far i have no issues with my pipe. i use the dsm bov and have it recirculate back into the intake. i tried it open to the air bu the car had idle issues with it off. i would recomend the dsm bov to everyone because they are cheap ($50-$75 used) and work well.
i have 2 for sale for $75.

Turbospeed: I think many people's decision to buy this part hinges on the following questions:
1. Do you still hear the turkey sound?
2. Did you keep the stock bypass valve?
3. Where are you tapping your vacuum line that goes to the BOV?
4. Do you have any stalling problems?
:)

sorry guys i have been busy and not checked emails in days
i already answered those equestions......
no i threw out the old bypass valve in the trash!
it does not sound bad. its a little louder but not noticeable, because you can do it to atmosphere.......it has stalling problems when you leave it to atmosphere. i routed it back into the intake pipe.
if anyone wants these pipes you're better off calling me. rev is making another 5 this week

no turkey sound

at the intake manifold
3. Do you have any stalling problems when recircing?
none. i had stalling problems when it was to atmosphere so thats why i chose the 1g bov, so it can be routed back into the intake pipe.
