Well, it's time that I get my 30k service done so I called mazda to schedule. (also need to get my bushings replaced again!) but when I called to set it up I was told that they charge $525 to have the service done!!!? Does this sound right? most of this stuff can be done on my own, pretty much all but the inspection. The only thing im not too sure about is a fluid flush. I dont know, paying that much dosent seem right... whats everyone else experience with this?

check your owner's manual, i don't think a fluid flush is required at 30k
the only thing needed changing at 30k is spark plugs, air filter, and an oil change.

correct. My dealer actually said, you should just do it yourself, its really easy, not worth the price. (really cool service manager) So I saved an arm and a leg. fluid flush isn't required till 45k.

Yeah, I was pretty much just going to take care of all of it myself but this is carzy that they charge that much.

Also a valve cover gasket change is usually done I think at 30,000 mi.

i called my service manager @ about 35k miles, and he told "save your money son". i had my local mech do the transmission fluid and filter and flushed the radiator and refill, couple of checks, belts hoses...$200 i'm out the door. thanks to my mazda service manager!

i think i am lucky to have a crazy friend who does oil change, spark plugs change, radiator flush and change...and so on if he has the right tools to perform. his two vehicles are still running great since 96 and 00. so i think i will ask him to do that when i hit 30k, although still 8000 miles to go...
