Hello all, I just purchased a new MSP last week and had a question. When my fan kicks on, my RPM's drop low to right before it stalls, then it goes back to normal, it does this about every 4 seconds until the fan kicks back off. The fan seems to kick on and off alot when idling, like it will run for 1 min 30 sec then kick off for 45sec-1min then go back on then again. Is this a normal problem with the fan kicking on causing a rough idle? I did a search first to find some info about it and found some people with K&N filters got this problem, but mine is stock. Also I popped my hood and looks for alittle bit, and only the driver's side fan seems to kick on, is this normal? THANKS!

NO, it should not be doing this. See if your little elbow is still attached to the airbox, IF not, the fan is blowing air right into the airbox, and causing the car to rough idle. :D

thanks for the quick reply!
i just it and the elbow seems to be on pretty good.
when i picked it up at the dealship, they said they put mid-grade fuel in it, but i read in the manuel it said premium fuel needed. would that possibly cause the problem? I'm on the last 1/4 tank of gas and it is still the gas they put in, i havent even put a tank in myself yet. thanks!!!

Ewwww, They should know better. I hate frikin dealers. Run that tank dry, fill up with 93 or better, then see how it runs. :D

My car seems to be idling rough too, mostly when I first turn it on or when I'm waiting to turn it off. I popped the hood & listened to it & it doesn't sound great either. My elbow pipe is fine & it was doing this before I got the Forge DV, so the only thing I can think of is the NGKs. It took me forever to figure out the gapping process, but once I did, I checked them like 100 times. I also double checked everything when I put them in. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
Oh yeah, I also have that nasty looking coolant leak like Pkay & others on here. When I got my oil changed (around 300 miles ago), they said I was low on coolant & they topped it off. Could this be related?

BUMP!
I just noticed that this should be in the MSP section.
