I keep reading posts where people have turned their boost "up to 9psi" and so on. What is the stock boost on these things?

I know amazing isn't it.
His question was answered quickly without annoying people posting for no reason at all. Hopefully it will start a trend.

Wow really?? I heard that the MSP floated around 6psi but I had no idea it could be that low.

Does anybody know if altitude changes the boost or is it a constant and regulated by a wastegate?
All I know is that at higher altitudes, you can get away with higher boost because of the thin air. Saw a Supra with 30psi on the drag strip once. What a sound!

well it all depends on a guage as well.
one member on these boars will test the Ultralite Autometer series boost gauge to see how big the error is......ina couple of days
haha, they test aviation equipment so he can test it up to 1/10000 of a PSI :D

Wow, that seems really low. Did they not upgrade the pistons? Are they the same used in the non-turbo engines?
And I actually tried the search, but I can't get it to work on strings like "stock boost". That seems to return every post with either stock AND boost or stock OR boost, which means about every post here.

How does temperature affect your boost? If I purchase this car, it will be driven in -30C weather.

That will be awesome but you should warm it up AT IDLE for at least 1 minute in those conditions. Also, Do a search for "Take care of your turbo". I wrote it a while ago and it didn't get flamed too bad so it s/b alright.

PS: I think our intercooler was designed for -30 degrees. LOL

Warming up a car around here is like breathing, you just do it. But what I was getting at is how would you adjust the boost for this weather. Example, running 9psi in the summer, then what would you run in the winter? Aren't there detonation issues? Sorry, but still new and learning turbos.

I just got reflashed today and also installed a sportcomp boost gauge and I am running 7 psi with no mods.

I've heard it was set up to run 6.9psi of bosst stock. The initial numbers were 7, but I think the ECu problems messed that up. I believe that altitude does affect what your boost would be reading at. I've ordered Autometer gauges, and will install them soon(exspenive little buggers). I'll tell you what mine reads stock. I'm sure it was supposed to be 6.9stock. But i guesse 6-6.5 sounds about right aswell if you loose a little boost due to altitude.
