Everyone talk s about the "fog light mod" but I am interested insomething else. I tried to search for a thread on it but for some reason I couldn't get anything.

I am going to get an Injen CAI or that ram intake if it gets made and either way I want to remove my foglights. I want to make a little channel so air can go right where it is needed.

Has anyone done this yet? Any pictures? Any issues that I need to be aware of before I try this out?

I would just go ahead and remove the light. What can go wrong?
(Trial and error is the only way to learn.)

I wanted to do the same thing. When I researched it, I read in the workshop manual to remove the foglight you have to remove the front bumper cover. Is that right? Sure seems like a lot of work.

Anyone know if you can remove the foglight without removing the bumper cover?

My thought was to simply buy some 3" or 4" high quality flex ducting and just route it into the engine compartment to help increase the flow of cold air to the intake, be it short ram or stock. May not be an all weather solution but rather a simple (and cheap) autocross enhancement.

you could run ducting to right next to the fog light rather than having to remove it. it would have to bend but im pretty sure plenty of air would be able to get in still. or if it is temporary you could even run it below the car a little bit.

Wow so no one has done this yet??

All you would have to do is somehow direct the air from the foglight area up to where your filter will lie. It could be as easy as mounting up a single flat piece of metal or plastic.

C'mon people! You make it sound like your regearing a tranny or something! I created a custom ram air and cold air intake on my current car and it took all about an hour to complete. I still have fogs, and yes, I had to remove my bumper. You have to be not afraid to try things in order to accomplish them.

or some simple ducting from the lower grill opening, into the wheel well area that the filter sits
(disclaimer: I would never personally do this, as I can't imagine it would make that much of a difference for the trouble involved)

I would love to see somebody do this and hear the results.

Yes, just use 3" flexible dryer ducting and duct tape the entire thing to make it more rigid.

I am not afraid stormtrooper77 of goofing around with my car. I would have tried it out even if no one answered the question, I was just amazed that no one had.

It sounds like you have done a pretty good job with yours. So you made a custom "ram air" and kept the foglights? Any chance of getting some pics of this so everyone interested can see what you did?

This is on my current car ('94 Eagle Summit). I don't have access to a digicam so no pics, sorry.

I have aftermarket fogs on my car (located where the fogs are on the MSP). The fogs do not completely cover the opening so there is plenty of air going in. From there I had to cut a hole (through a metal piece that had no structural significance) in order to run the duct into the engine bay. My original setup was just a custom short ram. (I had to remove the bumper to do all this.)

Ideas came to me and I thought why not ram air cold air? So I ordered some 2.5" mandrel bend aluminized tubing from JCWhitney and made my CAI. It sits in my fender right where the end of ram air tubing sits. Best of both worlds.

I had the ram air for a couple of years and the combination of the 2 since only the beginning of the summer. I guess total time worked on the car would have only been about 2-2.5 hours.

With my car now, there was no difference in power. Haha! I have the slowest car on earth.
