Hey, I just had my sub replaced today under warranty, and my understanding is they replaced the whole back deck (not just the speaker, but the amp and everything). Well on the way home i noticed that now the whole back deck rattles constantly when the bass is on, and is rattling very loud while going over any bumps. I know others have experienced this, but my question is what can be done to stop this? Has anyone had any luck getting the dealer to take care of this rattle? Or has anyone solved it themselves?

I’m planning to take it back to the dealer and let them deal with it, but I was wondering if anyone had any other input/suggestions.

Mine has started rattling on really punchy bass. I'm thinking it has to do with the brackets. I'm gonna check this weekend.

...Either that or your cone has seperated from the surrond like mine did

The Kenwood sub is a real POS...that's why the whole system is coming out soon. The Sub is already gone....:D

I had the same exact thing happen to me after I got my sub replaced for the frist time. The rattling is coming from the deck hitting up aganist the top of the trunk. I took it back to the dealer and they put a piece of insulator foam between the deck and the top of the trunk. No more problems, but isnt it great to get one thing fixed and have another one pop up?

no rattling here. And I got two subs back there. Nothing over bumps either.

My sub is fine and it looks like they already added that foam to my install. Serv - You need to stop playing that 50 cent shit. :D

3 12's in the back of a Speed is nuts. Not enough air. Plus you will eliminate all tightness. 12's don't have that quick tight bass. They are good for that low blowey, deep bass though.

1) You can 50 cent my ass! :D

2) It depends on the 12s, the amp running them, and the box. I'm pretty sure I could build you a box for one eD12A run by a JL500/1 and it'd be plenty tight.

3) 3 12s is freaking nuts in that trunk. Forgot any storage space! :D

Yea 1 high quality 12 prolly would hit nice.....

I'm thinking a system with 4 small speakers around 5 and 6 inches and (1) 12 is going to be missing something. Thats a large jump.

check the brackets holding the sub enclosure in place there are 2 bolts on each side by the trunk hinges. a total of 4 bolts that hold the sub enclosure in place, if these are not tight and or missing this will cause the enclosure to move.

Mine are Missing! :D (because I took them out! (evil) )

I counted about 22 total. This includes the philips head screws and the 4 bolts. There could be a couple more screws...but tighten them all up and you should be good to go.

I am running the stock setup and so far I have no rattles. I have had the car for about 2 weeks.

I took mine apart and is not out of my car. If they took the whole thing out there is a LOT of room for shakes and rattles. Check the main bolts that support the big sub insert. Also where the amp is screwed in.

It's either that or something else has come loose in the car. The onlything the sub box physically touches is the mounting plates that goes to the car. But the sub is boomy enough where it could shake something else.

Have you checked those fake Kenwood plates in the back of the car? Maybe it is something small like that. Most stuff is tied down pretty well.
