On my next oil change I will be converting to synthetic oil and was just wondering if I should get the engine oil flush? I would assume no because I only have 8600 km on my car and have done one oil change so far. I'm assuming that not too much sludge has built up so far. Thanks.

Do those flushes really work? I've read that it's a lot of hype like octane boosters, but I dunno what to believe...

I think they do on High Mileage cars,

These are the BG Flushes. I personally don't like the idea of them running hot water through my engine. Water + Inside engine where oil is suppose to go and water isn't = NOT GOOD. Apparently it's really good though. The only BG Flushes I would to is the Tranny (If I had and automatic), the powersteering and the brake fluids. What they do here is actually pump that bad stuff out with new fluid until it's as clean as a baby's ass (before any "accidents").

The Engine flush encorporates some type of cleaners and hot water. They flush it through the system to get oil deposits out and any harmfull stuff they find. It works just great, but I don't think this is necessary for chillin's car b/c he's only got 8000+ KM on the car.

on high mileage cars that have NEVER have not had flushes every oil change, it will basically ruin your engine in the fact that it will take all the built up 'shit' and trash it, leaving everything worn down and virtually no seals behind. i was burning a QUART every TANK because I got valvolines flush at their recommendation. BS. ITS BS. dont get one on high mileage UNLESS you've had them already frequently.

Just don't get them period.

Oil has come a long way and it does not leave that residual shit if you change it on the normal intervals.

I agree w/ you PDH, that flush shit is a gimmic

ugh. i have TWO cases of 10w30 left in the garage from my old car still. basically not only does the flush get rid of "build up" but remembering the "build up" actually kind of protects the engine with that much age in the fact that without it, all the worn and cracked seals will be vulnerable. So its doing its job, but its doing WAY TO MUCH MORE!

I just switched mine to Mobil one on the weekend at 8800 KM's...no flush

As others have said unless you built up a lot of crap in the crankcase...filler up and go.

I took the Mobil one to my dealer for the 8000 km inspection and they had no issue using it...got flashed at the same time

Ouch...

I remeber trying out this "EVERWARE" stuff at the Mobil 1 dealer on my dad's Ford Taurus. Apparently what they do is toss this bottle of stuff in the engine and start it for 5 min. It would idle and they would take it in and drain it out. This is where those "deposits" were removed. The car ran great afterwards, but we never EVER got it done again. What a waste of time and $.

I said earlier that all flushes are crap. That's not true with the tranny, power steering, and brake fluids, b/c they just pump new stuff in there until it's clean. No solvents or anything.... so I retract my previous statement
