Hey guys,

I was quoted $400 from a local dealership for a 90,000 mile tuneup. It is worth the cost to do this, or should I even consider it? It looks like it includes a decent number of services (whatever Mazda recommends) but I wonder how much of it really needs to be done.

I have zero time to do any of this myself, BTW, since I'm busy with other cars.

No, this is not my P5, this is for a 99 Protege LX that's in the family. We have something like 9 Mazdas in the extended family, all from my recommendations. :)

I'm not going to type out everything it includes because it's a whole page of like 4-point font type. I was just hoping someone would be familiar with Mazda's typical recommendations for that mileage.

It all depends on how willing you are to do the work yourself. The dealer will ALWAYS charge an arm and a leg to do anything to your car. Parts cost alone is extremely high from the dealership. My advice, take the list and get the price for each item from an auto parts store such as Advance Auto, then factor in how much work it would entail to replace each item. IMHO, for a 90k mile car, it'd be better to do it yourself. There shouldn't be that much work involved. I would. That's the route I take on my 14 yr old Miata, but I also enjoy working on cars, heh.
